Don't mean to thread necro but I did this today. Painting the handles while attached to the car is also a simple and viable option. First slide note cards under handles and tape them off. Next, wrap about 3 feet around in magazine or newspaper. then put a rudimentary "blast shield" on just to catch any paint blown by the wind. Easy as cake.

I did this as well after encouragement from Vichtz. I used Plastidip since I was just trying to get them all black before putting the Carbon Fiber overlays on them. My goal was to prevent any silver from showing through around the overlays. I was able to get it all covered without issue. It came out 99% perfect, I just had two really tiny tears in the plastidip when removing the masking tape from not cutting a clean enough edge. So from straight above the passenger door handle there are two 2mm specs of silver showing through I'll have to touch up.

1st pic - masked off area
2nd - flat black plastidipped handles
3rd - close up of CF overlay from the rear angle which showed a lot of silver prior to painting
4 - distance shot after overlays installed
