You know, I never put those screws back in since I first pulled it off. Much easier when i change the filter or mess with anything back there.

I notice which one you put in but others have said to use a CAF1766
filter. Is there a better one than an other? Do they all fit the same, or have less constricted air flow than another? |

STP: CAF1766 Purolator: C35479 WIX: 24883 Fram: CF10157 No need to notch the filter. The tapered posts on the door hold the filter up and in place away from the fan below. This is the one meant to go in there... This is a Lexus/Toyota equivalent P/N Toyota 87139-32010 Apparently several Manuf. use the same air handling unit. Fitment: Lexus ES330 v6 3.3l 2004-2005, RX400 Hybrid 2006-2009, Toyota Avalon V6 3.0L 2002-2004, Camry V6 2002-2005 & 4Cyl 2006, Highlander V6 3.3L 2004-2007 & Hybrid V6 2006-2007, Sienna V6 3.3L 2004-2006, Solara 2003-2006

I asked at a few places for the Fram CF10157 since it's a charcoal filter, but everywhere I looked it had to be ordered since it was a newer filter. So instead I went with the Fram CF10140 which is for the G35. It fits way better than the stock one which was a bit skinnier. This one is the same length and width, and leaves no gaps around the sides. |

I am not sure if I am paranoid but I could not figure out if CAF1792 would be the correct one because it might be too thick and too long.
In test fitting, there is a vent door that I believe will need to open and the filter may prevent it from swinging open. What I need to find out is if this door swings upwards or downwards. I am out of time today so I apologize for leaving everyone hanging. Btw thanks for the writeup. |
