If you lubricate them it will interfere with the (wait, can the word "deposition" be used that way?) of the teflon on the metal, the teflon is intended to be the lubricant.

I am pretty sure it's a steel bolt going through a brass bushing...

Ya I was only going to try to use a grease gun on the grease fittings to see how it goes first.
