This is a very unfortunate problem. I have been contemplating purchasing these FUCA's. I will be patient and follow this thread to see if their "fix" has been effective at eliminating this problem. I predict that the higher torque value with the higher grade Loctite will prevent the heim joint bolt from backing out. Hopefully Z1 will compensate you guys who have suffered from their product failure.

So the 271 Red Loctite is specifically designed for bolts 1/2" diameter or less which the bolt size that keeps backing out is. The 262 is designed for bolts over 1/2" which makes sense as to why it could be backing out. I mean if you put the 262 stuff in your jamnuts and haven't had issues with those loosening then you know it's a Loctite issue. I didn't get around to installing mine yesterday but plan on it today. My ball joint isn't pre-assembled like some of you from factory. So I got some 271 for 8 bucks for Ace. We'll see how she goes. First autocross this Sunday.

I went to the Locktite website and they say that the 262 is a High/Medium strength threadlocker and also give a breakaway torque value. With the 271, they say that it is for fasteners up to 1" diameter and that it is a permanent threadlocker. The only way to break the torque on it after it is cured, is by heating it up to 500 degrees.

Im considering going back to OEM Upper Control Arms. My tow alone cost me $500. I am hoping that they at least give me some type of compensation for this. If not I will have to at the least report them to BBB.

Just received an email with tracking. Pleased to see that they shipped today and mine will be at my door tomorrow. Crapy situation but I'm glad its being resolved quickly. To those who experienced a failure I hope you get reimbursed in some form. Hopefully get new joints installed this week and will still continue to check them every 100 or so miles like the previous ones.

I have received an Email from Spencer Hutchins with Z1, letting me know they are sorry for what happened with their Control arms. He asked for the bill for my shop costs and any towing expenses and will make it right.
This is a great sign that they take responsibility, and want to take care of us in the Z community.

Same here, bolts and Loctite with instructions arived today.
Looks like they are doing the right thing.
New Product problem arises, they handle it professionally.
I will continue to do buisness with them.

The letter irritated me a bit as it pointed the blame to the owner and installer not to them insufficiently assembling the joint.

I agree that the wording made it appear that the customers and or the technicians that installed the arms were at fault.
I Emailed Spencer at Z1 with the same thoughts.
Quote:
Thanks for your prompt action on this defect.
I am glad your company has been quick to come up with what seems to be the solution

I have to say the letter I received with the new bolts and Loctite seemed to put the blame on us customers, and or the technicians that
did the work on our vehicles. Neither I nor the technicians that did my alignment disassembled the heim/ball joint that came pre-assembled from Z1.
I was offended that it was worded that way!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how the parts were installed or what happened with my vehicle.
Here is his response to that statement.
Quote:
Also yes I agree the wording on the letter with the replacement parts was poor. I believe it was one of those things put together in a hurry by one of my coworkers while I was out.
Regards,
Spencer Hutchins

Sales Manager
with that said I feel they did the right thing.
As it is with new products sometimes there are unforeseen issues that can turn up.
It's how they deal with these problems that make them a good company or not.
