Pilot SS
I just installed a set of Super Sports this week after getting 20,500 out of the Bridgestones & they run smoother, are more quite, & have as much or more grip, but the jury is still out I need to put some more miles on them because the sidewall compound is softer their response rate is a bit slower. So I put in a little more pressure but it didn't help so I'll be back later for a further follow-up. Oh yea they cost me 1,275 out the door including front & rear alignment, nitro, & premium caps.

I'll probably be ordering some PSS's within a couple months. I've got about 22k on my stock tires and the outsides of the rears are starting to show noticeable wear. I do at least 70% highway driving which is why I've been able to put so many miles on them. Everyone seems to worship PSS around here and I've seen nothing but great reviews on them. Sounds like they might wear a bit better than stock potenzas also.

First Impressions Michelin Pilot SS
I replaced the OE Bridgestones prematurely @ 23500 miles due to a puncture in the shoulder of the LF tire. The rears were about 85% worn with another 3500 miles (est) remaining. The fronts were about 75% gone. I was VERY satisfied with the Potenzas. They're an excellent tire!
Nevertheless, after reading this thread, I decided to replace them with the Super Sports. My first impressions (same inflation pressures):
Steering response is different- more precise, although the Potenzas are quicker at initial inputs (this is very subjective and some drivers might prefer the Potenzas in this regard). Both tires are well suited for my Z. Either choice is a good one. 9.24.16 6000 mile update and impressions. Update: Moderate driving. Less than 10% wear. Much better than expected. Impressions: More tuned to touring than sport. OE Bridgestone's more sport than touring. Both are excellent tires on my Z. Last edited by vin17; 09-24-2016 at 11:17 AM. Reason: Update |

Switched to the Pilot SS tires. How they stand up to my abuse every day and still provide the level of traction, comfort, predictability is beyond me. The only down side I can think of is they don't behave well when cold (I'm in Oregon ((don't move here, it's turned into a complete liberal prius homeless hell hole / everyone is offended about everything zone "oh that was a micro aggression")), so under 50 deg mornings must take it easy til warmed up). Today I decided to checkout how they're doing after a good 10k miles of abuse, and I can see I'll probably get another 5-10k out of 'em. Better than any other tires I've tried on any car. Now I'm curious about the pilot sport cup 2's, but don't want to pay for them!!! |

I just replaced the Bridgestones with the Super Sports and have a question: Based on the reviews on this site and tirerack, I was expecting a smoother and quieter ride than the worn out Bridgestones with 30,000 miles. Unfortunately, it feels like the ride became stiffer/bouncier and a little bit noisier. I checked the tire pressures and they are 36 psi. Is there a break-in period for these tires?
Thanks in advance for your input. |

Another question: Can you look at the attached alignment results to see if they are within specs? I am still trying to figure out why the car became little stiffer/bouncier.
