Default Wheel locks for Nismo Wheels (2013)

I am purchasing a set of the Nismo wheels from Z1 and they have the lug nuts (shank style, also called Mag seat) but I am not finding any wheel locks that will complement the black lugs.

I honestly get confused with all the different styles of lug nuts so maybe I am jut all messed up.

Any recommendations for black wheel locks that will work with the Nismo wheels?

Thanks!

You can try to powder coat the locknuts you have. Not sure how it will stand up or adhere.

I have the black lugnuts from Z1.

There is a thread about Z1 nuts. I don’t think they fit well. I’ll find it when I get home in the evening. Don’t take my word as the truth until I find that thread.

You have to use OEM wheel locks that only come in silver on OEM wheels. If you want them to match your black lugnuts, you'll have to customize them yourself.

@Cooltoy... I think this is the link you might be looking for...

And you're correct... the Z1 lugs don't fit properly when I ordered from them some months back. ( unless they corrected the issue ) Best bet is to get them from Zspeed... they match OEM perfectly.

I got the black ones for free one time (bought a part from someone and he threw those into the deal). When I put them on, I too realized there was a tiny bit of wiggle. Measured it, and all 16 were all a hair smaller. I thought I was just being paranoid, switched back to OEM. I guess i wasn’t alone.

You're not wrong @cv129. I measured appx 1/16" thinner wall and not as tall either... I didn't like the free play in the wheel nor did I believe these were as strong as OEM either. I returned them and that's another nightmare dealing with Z1 and their customer support take took half dozen calls to straighten out

For the sake of everyone's [potential]safety, I really hope that Z1 corrected this but I don't have a lot of confidence they did.

Thanks for the great info! I see the ZSpeed set is out of stock but I will keep an eye on it. Do the OEM wheel locks even deter anyone from stealing the wheels?

It is very strange Z1 recommends lug nuts that don't fit.

Not really. Slows them down a bit but not much. Best bet is to install 5 different wheel locks in lieu of lug nuts if truly concerned. That would probably deter most thieves.

Not really. It just seems like par for the course these days with Z1. I don't know why people think so highly of them

So the Zspeed set is no longer available from their supplier. Any other good options for black lug nuts that actually fit

Great!.

I haven't torqued down my Z1 Lugnuts yet. Prior to this thread, I did compare them to the OEM and found they were slightly shorter. I didn't think anything of it.

Didn't measure wall thickness.

I've got 20mm wheel spacers that I had to cut down the studs, so we'll see if my measurements that were based on the OEM nuts, will work with the slightly shorter z1 black lugnuts.
