Default Track day brakes

I've been invited to AMP (Atlanta Motorsports Park) for a day so I guess I need to do some brake prep. This will be my first track day so I know I'll need different pads.

What else will I need to do? Rotors? Fluid?

What pads should I buy?

I also do Autocross event about once a month so I can use the pads for that as well.

I have a 2014 touring sport

IMO, I would think unless you are a seasoned driver these cars will be plenty enough a challenge stock. Just go out have fun and hone your skills, then if you find the car wont keep up with your skills, upgrade.

Brake fluid and pads at least. I'd do stronger fronts than rears so you don't get ice mode as bad. And search the forum for the track day guide! All the info here already.

Pads and brake fluid change is a must and keep your gas tank above 1/2 if you can and the only vehicle specific things. Oh and if your oil temps start pushing 250 or so give a lap or so for it to cool off.

I am pretty sure there are quite a few posts with suggestions for track prep on this forum and the internet if you SEARCH for them.

when are you going? I'll be there tomorrow with Just Track It.

for a first timer, motul fluid and stock pads should be sufficient. If you want to upgrade the pads, go to hawk hps.

No date set. My cousin lives in Dawsonville and has a connection to use the track. He's been trying to get me over since I bought the Z

I would agree with Mike. First time out you probably won't push the stock brakes past their limits. Upgrading the HPS would be a great option. When you get to the point when you are running race pads you'll want to select Similar Compounds for your street and track pads as to not contaminate the transfer layer.

I'd still upgrade brake fluid and pads for your first time. Especially if you are confident in your abilities and will be pushing harder as you learn throughout the session. If anything it will be some added insurance so you don't boil your fluid or ice your pads which could at the very least sideline you.

Motul RBF600 or at least 5.1 and Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rear.

I did a track day 3 weeks ago at VIR and stood on my brakes at 135 the whole 2nd
two sessions, twice per lap. They were fine. I do want to upgrade before the next one though, I intend on standing on them all sessions! I think an oil cooler is the big must for the track and auto x. Especially in the hot GA summer.

I have a set of brand new REAR XP8 for the sport package. I have a set of XP8 fronts with about 2 track days left on it. I Have a set of XP10 with about 2 days left on it. I also have a set of XP10 front that have one track day on it amd XP8 rear with about 40% left that I have on the car at this moment, but I might keep it for now. It depends on what the track schedule looks like.
