Default Sport Pkg brakes up to track use?

I'm considering a 370z with Sport Pkg as my weekend track car. I am an experienced track driver running in advanced run groups and will likely upgrade the suspension, and will definitely add an oil cooler and run dedicated track wheels/tires and pads.

My question is, are the Sport Pkg brakes up to the task? Are there any ducting kits available that properly route air to the inside of the wheel hub? In my experience ducting kits are the best way to keep the brakes cool...

Also, how easy is it to change pads? Do you have to remove the entire caliper or do you just pop a pin out and pry the pads out while the caliper is still bolted on?

calipers yes, pads/fluid hell no.

Pretty easy to change pads on this car. Pin.

Rotors are still a toss up. We think the problems people have been experiencing on the track is more from pad overheating than rotors, however the rotors might be terrible too.

I suggest changing out the stock brake lines with SS ones.

Flush and load brake system w/ DOT4 or maybe DOT5 / DOT 5.1 (DOT4 being the better choice, IMO)

Stainless brake lines would help too.

Just get some RBF600 fluid... as far as pads go, do you want dedicated track pads or something you can try and use in both?

RCZ, what do you think about the hawk blues? i like them b/c they're good enough for track use in other cars i've driven but you dont *have* to take them off to drive home. (i usually take them off the next day after getting home). the price is also relatively cheap.

after several issues with the brakes overheating, i just decided to go with a full AP Racing BBK... I think I'm the first one with this setup... I'm LATE posting a review, but will do so after my event this coming weekend... I ran them at Miller Motorsports a few weeks ago and had zero of the problems i had before...

you *may* get rid of the heating issue with stock brakes by swapping rotors for slotted and creating some ducting to get air flow up, but **** when it comes to brakes why take the chance... you need them to work every time!

I dont have experience with Hawk Blues, only with HP+ and the street variants. Maybe you're referring to the HP+?

DOT 5 should NEVER be put in a street car. 5.1 is just a higher grade of DOT 4.

DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 are the same "technology"..Glycol based.

DOT 5 is silicone based.
