The Z28s are $350k machines built by Pratt and Miller. Their World challenge version is $425k.
They are way overbuilt for both series. The 7 ltr v8 Camaro makes 500 hp and 475hp in stock streetcar trim. As advertised. Throw in a KN filter and ECU mapping who knows what it makes. The throttle body is 9mm with an 80mm restrictor which is probably about 25-30 hp and still makes 475 ftlbs of torque. If you see the cars up close and know rules for the series... They were given very thing they asked for and a lot of it is beyond the spirit of the rules for the series . When cars in this series are allowed to put in racing pedal boxes and dual master cylinder systems , lexan windows, its beyond the intentions of the series. Again $350k for a Contincar is insane and all It will do.. Is kill the series. Last edited by Dwnshift; 01-22-2014 at 01:53 AM. |

Good luck BJ/Doran! I always look forward to watching you guys race.
With the bankroll of the Camaro teams, seems they would fit into a Tudor class instead of CSCC. I was going to look it up .. with the changes my old memory is lost as to what is in Tudor now... and their website doesn't have an easy place to see all the classes, differences, etc.. Just do us a favor and pass those chumps -

The best part is that 80mm restrictor isn't doing ****. That 80mm is over 3". 3" Pipe 700 cfm = 162 mph = 0.21 mach 800 cfm = 185 mph = 0.24 mach 900 cfm = 208 mph = 0.27 mach Having tested many LS style motors for intake speed they average around 200mph. Given that is going to be a Pre-Throttle Body flat plate restrictor you can bet that its still flowing 800cfm. So 800cfm to Lbs/min is give or take 14.5 so 800/14.5 = 55lbs/min or 550hp So yea... Likely costing them 1-2hp if that.. |
