Default SS brake line over the OEM ones?

I had swapped that in my old Miata, I hated the feel of the brakes after as the pedal became and on off switch. I am thinking about doing the same thing simply because I got close to 30K on my car and I want to swap it out as a precaution (OEM lines are like $200). What do you guys think? Any tips on brand or type?

Thanks

Got the Z1's lines. The feel is better then the stock lines. Not the light switch you had on the Miata. How many times have you read of people switching? I'm surprised that you haven't switched yet.

They have two different types, should I go for the one that retains the union?

I didn't because it's an extra point to leak, and I got Joe@ZSpeed lines

I have a 2009. I just requested Z1 to see if I can order their premium line with the 7% discount that they were running. If so, I will add it to the order with my cooling ducts and new pads. If not, this will wait till the next sale.

Yeah you don't have them. I'd sell you my OEM stiff lines for cheap but they won't fit.

Absolutely worthwhile. Vastly improved braking feel.

HOWEVER, after having had a few sets of the Z1 lines, I would personally recommend getting Goodridge SS lines, unless they are significantly more expensive than the Z1 lines Goodridge Steel Brake Lines 370Z

The Z1's are fine, and do the job, but I had some issues with seeps and leaks, which I think simply comes down to how the fittings on the Z1 lines are designed.

I have the Goodridge SS lines and am happy with them. Evidently, Goodridge has an uber premium series that includes a vinyl wrap over the braided SS … but I couldn't locate these for my 2013 Z so just stayed with the standard SS lines. The fittings seem solid … no leakage provided you snug them down well.

In terms of the stock lines on the 2013 Z, I don't think there's anything special about them. I think that only the 2013 Nismo Z was fitted with the high-rigidity lines and high performance brake fluid (DOT 4). The Owners Manual and FSM for the 2013 (even with the Sport Package) doesn't specify the high performance fluid, only Genuine Nissan HD Brake Fluid or DOT3 equivalent.

I didn't notice a big difference when I switched over … perhaps a little more responsiveness when stepping on the brakes. I switched them over in the late fall. I may know better in the spring when I take the Z out of winter hibernation and re-bleed the brakes since I suspect there may still be a small amount of air in the lines that was introduced during the switch.

Threshold braking, and trail braking into a corner. I have a better feel for what the brakes are doing. When the brakes are ready to lock, I can back off a little and not worry if I did too much or not enough.

Z1 lines included in sport package rotor upgrade. Love the feel/response of them.
