+1 on the tire pressure. It helps a lot with launching. I run about 25psi in the rears and 40psi up front.

And its not my driving capability...I had over 180 drag passes in my old G35. I managed a 12.2 out of only 350whp.

In regards to wheel hop, try lowering your tire pressure. My car had baddd wheel hop Thursday night at the track. You just have to play with the throttle a bit.

Its all about your tires and tire pressure... I ran 12.95 and average a 13.0-1 most passes.. With a 1.95 60 I got 12.95. You can get a better 60 than that too so I have room to improve.

Gears flywheel clutch headers all still left to do. These cars can def hit 12s n/a just takes practice.

Forsure i run 21psi in the rear and cut an average 1.90 to 1.94 60 fts on the re050. ime shootin for 1.8xx on the re-11's. oh here comes 12.5xx's.

Chuck have you thought about swapping back in your original springs?? you know you will get better weight transfer.

You should go post on the South Louisiana thread in the southern region of the forum. There are a few of us who like to go to the track occasionally.

I'm going to the track on tuesday weather permitting of course.. I'll be on my stock tires with 8k miles on them.. I'll be happy if I hit 11.9's at 118-120 or so.. Man I wish I had slicks.. I Will have video and Times slips after!

i brought my g37s to the track last night, it was my first time at a track racing and ive been getting used to the switch to 6spd. my Z was auto. my best run was 14.8 @ 97.8mph, 2.437 60ft. has about 26psi in rear tires and need to work on my launch. any suggestions?

Well, I'm not sure how you started your run..

But I'd suggest doing a quick spin of the tires to get anything off of them...no need for a big smokey burnout.

I'd suggest holding the rpms around 3000-3500. Don't even worry about cutting a good reaction time. I'd focus on the launch. So when the light goes green and you feel ready, progressively let out the clutch until you feel it catching and put more pressure on the gas. When the you feel the clutch has grabbed fully, put your foot to the floor until you have to shift.

I like to practice shifting a few times while I'm in the staging lanes just to get a feel for shifting fast.

fairladyZ34 10-29-2010 02:35 PM

^thanks for the tips intrigue

i couldnt go around the water box at this track and didnt heat the tires up because its only the stock tires. im gonna practice my launch somewhere on quiet road or parking lot to get a better feel for launching. besides the launch my shifts into 2,3,4 were pretty on point i feel. hopefully i can cut the 60' and have a better slip to post up soon

One_Quick_Z 11-07-2010 12:07 AM

Well I went to the track to day (Byron Dragway) lets just say it was a little brisk out. The temp was 32 deg when I pulled into the track, They didnt even finish getting the track ready until 11:00AM.

So as you can imagine the track was very slick, seeing how the high temp of the day only reached 45..

The total amount of runs that I had today was around 15, most of them were failed passes due to a bad launch because of how cold the track was or spinning tires from 2nd gear to 3rd again because of how cold the track was.. well most of the runs were low 13's very low, 5 of my runs were 13.2 or lower and I have the slips to prove them.....

But the most interesting time was a 12.9 run! Yes that is right a 12.9 run with exhaust bolt-ons and stock tires! Here is the slip of proof and I even bounced the rev limiter from 3rd to 4th gear, I could have reached a quicker time!

So I say today was a win for me a 12.9 Pass with street tires minimal bolt-ons and a very slick track :)

Enjoy the pics :)

One_Quick_Z 11-07-2010 01:26 PM

^^Shoot I only have Drop in filters HPS silicone intake tubes and Exhaust mods and on a very slick track I ran a 12.9 Im sure you are in the same ballpark with your mods if you have similar driving experience as me

Just whats listed in my Sig, K&N Drop in Filters/ HPS Post MAF Silicone Tubes/Berk Test Pipes/ HKS Exhaust.... The Track was a very slick track due to how cold it was, I am sure With the current set up I have I can take a few tenths of a second off with better track prep and nicer weather :)

I had over 180 drag passes in my G35, so I have I have experience!:driving:

My car only made 292whp before the manifold/tune, so my car is no where near a factory monster...I'd say it's actually slower than most.

Once we figure out why my car loses 40whp between 6500-7500rpms, I hope to dip into the 12s.

tranceformer 11-07-2010 06:59 PM

Dan, you got a 6MT or 7AT?

One_Quick_Z 11-07-2010 08:19 PM

Yes I would say you have the track time then :)

Yes it is a 7AT

DAN

jnaut 11-08-2010 09:25 PM

AK are we going to make this an official 1/4 records? my kinda like they do on my350?

One_Quick_Z 11-09-2010 05:37 AM

^^Agreed! This thread needs to be updated and reorganized so you see the rankings of the different catagories, such as they have on My350(even though I dont care for that site) :)

Awesome 60'!!!

I'll be heading down to Bradenton tonight to see how I do.

98intrigue 12-09-2010 10:06 PM

After driving an hour, I went straight to the staging lanes and pulled right up to the tree. No cool down, i did a 2.1 60' which netted me a 13.2 @ 107mph. Sadly, that was my best run of the night. It got too cold and I couldn't hook. With a 2.0 60' and no lifting, it WILL see 12s damnit! Haha.

I saw that run. I was wondering what mods you had. I went to bradenton last night for the first time in my Z and it was pretty disappointing. Ran a 13.6 with a 2.1 60. Car only has 1100 miles on it so i'm thinking it will still pick up a little more power with some more miles.

What was your trap speed? A bone stock 370 should be in the 103-104 region.

Not bad! 103 is what I trapped stock, too. 5 days after you saw mr at Bradenton, I got a flat. I failed to realize how bald my tires were! So I'm actually quite happy with my time they night. My new 305s came in yesterday, so we will see how I do with a little more tread. Maybe we can meet up down there one night.

No, I don't remember an SS put there...but I'd be interested in some fun, rivalry competition.

Definitely going down the 20th. I'm also considering going this thursday to take advantage of the cool air. Supposed to be in the 30's!

09
7 speed auto
stock
20 psi
best time 12.93@106
would have ran better but the weather sucked

With my toe/camber still being way off, I'll wait until the 20th to go. At a certain point, colder temperatures will hurt your launch...including 30 degree temps.
