Sorry, but gdriver is crap.....not saying my350z is baby jeebus's forum of choice, but it is far more informative and well run than driver. Here in the mid-a there is a HUGE G-club.....NGC, and for the most part z's join them without any such issues. Hell even a group of 10-15 370's tend to join in for the larger events.....somehow we coexist.

Perhaps its your area?

In for slips from some the above users who ran and posted above....I want to see the intervals.

as far as information goes, yes my350z has more information about more mods that people try. G35 is not a sports car therefore there isn't as much people doing as extreme mods as on the 350z. It is normal and that is what you would expect from a luxury cousin of the 350z. As far as the overall attitude towards people and other cars in general there is no comparison. If its not a Z then it sucks d!ck.

From what i hear he opened some people eyes.. he went with a group of 350 HRs that ALL got beat lol

I cant wait to get some slips up on the 350 site. lol

hes got it on video.. He just replaced his rubber yesterday with 275 hankook evo's ... Id imagine an auto with radials would pull 1.8s with ease if you can get 2.0s with an inexperienced first time at the strip ever driver.

pretty impressive... it was about 50 degrees when he got there, he lost a little traction as it got cooler he said...

Nice. Glad to see some better times. I think you guys take what we say over there the wrong way.

If an all motor VQ35DE 4 door family car can do it theres no reason the 370 cant.

MY CARS slip from 5-5-2010

I still have room to improve.. but it is a 12 second pass from a manual tranny 370z !

Sub-2 second 60'. Nice job - you running DR's or stock tires? If stockers, nice job :)

+1, great driving but you MPH is kinda low for the mods that you have assuming you were running close to 0 DA. What was the DA when you were running?

03threefifty, despite what some say on here about the 350 guys, knows his shyt, even my shyt and is a good guy , lol

yea DA was 1050' ish , the low MPH i believe is due to me not taking the gears as far as I should and granny shifting due to the tire sway I was getting. The car felt as if it was floating on water or huvvering, very hard to explain but didnt feel good at all, and I was very conservative to be honest.

I used OEM 300ZX wheels with M/T ET Street Slicks ( not the drag radials ) I did not do burnouts or go through the water, I just went around and did a rolling burnout or two. Def not a good time for these tires as far as 60 foot goes. I need to figure out how to disable ABS or get a line lock to do burnouts. 26x10.5 on 16 inch wheels... Its a super tall soft sidewall, not for the everyone with stock rubber up front. As soon as I sell my f.i. LTH group buy spot , I am going to order the street drag radial in the same size so I can feel safe and confident going down the strip.

I plan to improve it soon, but i keep writing this. No more excuses but give me a month the time and mph will get a little better. It was only the 2nd time out, and first ever on slicks with no skinnies. So I am still getting used to the car and learning.

Also this is on my Open Diff... Im sure the 60 has to improve a smidge once I get atleast a VLSD in there ( another reason I am gonna pass on LTH for now )

Just kidding. Pretty good for your first time out w/ slicks, 2nd time ever. Keep practicing...seems like you've got a handle on it. Hope the pumpkin doesnt blow lol.

granny shifting and 12.8? WOW. That explaines the low MPH.

The rear diff won't be what fails.....the axles will explode/fail if you aren't careful. Can the diff fail....sure, but it's far less likely.

chuckd05 05-06-2010 02:05 PM

If axles or diff blows so be it... I pay for this car to have fun in it , so I'm not all that worried.

I am picking up a VLSD today, Im gonna have to have it installed in my pumpkin with new stub shafts.. If I blow that I can go back to open diff, lol. Axles would stink because they are not cheap but I dont think I was hooking nearly hard enough to break something.. Maybe if I heat them up the way I should and launch really hard after repeated use something would break but our near stock 370s should be okay.

Turns out that my best time was my first run (and first time ever at a strip). Had a good time Andrew. Nice job on the 13.5, that was my target going in. Auto FTW!

Next time I should remove my radar detector...I figure that should shave a good .5 off my time ;)

Also, I told Karen that she's fired from camera duties.

MightyBobo 05-22-2010 08:54 AM

Actually, your time is pretty damn good for your first time ever at the strip. You should be proud. That 60' sure sounds like a familiar time :)

You probably just need a little work on the shifting skillz.

Even with the weather....I'm a bit surprised you didn't go a bit quicker at Cecil.....It'll come with more seat time though.

chuckd05 05-24-2010 11:53 AM

Zole was was your oil temp at ? And did you let the car cool down enough ? That helped my car out a ton!

And question for u ...Z Elim... did you do your 12.8 with the gears and still trapped 110 ?

Im going back june 9th, hopefully with the drag radials instead of these et streets... I just have a hard time dropping 450 more on tires I will use once or twice this summer, loll..

my 12.9 @ 106.8 seems better to me now after I see most these other times..

Z eliminator 05-25-2010 04:31 AM

Yes i trapped at 110.33 @ 12.8009 with the 4.08 gears.
Going to the track June 26 . Hopefully i will get it right this time with the drag radials.
It hard to belive i went faster with the stock 19 inch tires!
the last time out i ran a 13.099@110.02 with no traction at all.(2.121 60 ft time).

Actually the temp wasn't all that high on that first run, maybe 200. I went four times after that and all my times kept getting worse, but I didn't really let the car cool down alot. On the last few runs the temp was around 240.

Both 4r3s and I got the best time on our first runs. Maybe this had something to do with the oil temp, or maybe we just started over analyzing everything and the first was more instinctual.

Z eliminator 05-25-2010 07:07 AM

I can agree with the oil temps. My first passes on all 3 days were the fastist runs. Once the oil temp starts to rises the times go up 12.8, next pass 12.95, 3rd pass 13.09. After i let the car sit for 1.5 hours it ran a 12.98.
The first pass the oil was 80c . Once it got to 100 to 115 the car was very slow.
It needs an oil cooler.
If you run back to back runs the second pass will be a lot slower

Tresfr 05-26-2010 04:59 PM

Stock Auto

Decent day at the track with my completely stock 370Z automatic. The temp in Fontana was hotter than I thought it would be at about 80 degrees. The bite was fair but not great.

I was happy to get a solid baseline with my 7AT while it was completely stock.

13.3 @ 105 - 2.08 60 foot

13.4 @ 106 - 2.10 60 foot

If the temp was 70 degrees when I made my best pass I think my car would have reached its maximum potential which I feel would be.

13.2 @ 107 - 2.00 60 foot

ByP 06-10-2010 12:24 PM

9.0 sec 1/4
13.5 sec 1/4

i will post video later

Transformer throw a pair of test pipes or hfc on her and your sure
to pickup some speed.

What mph are you trapping at? 2.09 60 isn't all that bad on street tires though.

I'm rocking stock for now. Gonna see how fast I can go bone stock in the winter when it cools off And I have more seat time. Typically I trap anywhere from 102 to 104 MPH, the weather And DA haven't been good lately.

The real trophy goes to jnaut last night.... 12.9 on stock tires w/ 6mt!! Maybe he'll post his slips here....

As a follow up to my quarter mile racing I went to Irwindale 1/8th mile last week. The temp was perfect about 68 degrees at night. My car is still completely stock but my Nismo S tune and K&N Drop Ins go in this week.

Results of first pass which was the best
2.02 60 foot
8.52 1/8th ET
85.9 Trap Speed

Observation :
This track was not crowded like Fontana so I ran runs only 20 minutes apart My times went up with oil pressure each run 8.5,8.6,8.7. The car was consistent but oil temp on the first run was 160F and the last run was 220F.

thats sick, just saw that he has gears too, i just installed my vlsd and kind of wish I waited and threw 4.08s in there, I have a feeling this car would love the gears, he has a flywheel too another mod i want..

Nice run in the 12.s. You guys are getting closer to my 12.8009 run. Make sure that you post it on the 370z drag times. Are you guys at sea level ? I have the 4.08 gear set up. The only negative thing about them is that its hard to launch in 1 st gear, and it will spin the tires between the 1st to 2nd gear shift and also from 2nd to 3rd. It works well on the 7 AT, but it hurts your gas mileage by 20 %. you turn and extra 700 rpm over stock @ 100 km.

what tire pressure is everyone set at? im having trouble getting off the line, i think im just used to the evo's launches
