Damn you have the fastest stock 370z 1/4 mile time. What was your 60ft? With a trap speed of 106mph and a time 12.93 you must have hooked up pretty good!

My biggest problem is traction I can not get better then 2.0x 60ft on street tires (305/30/19 Hankook V12).

Did you pull the STOP Fuse? This is the only thing I have not tried. Pulled the spare out once and it was a FAIL no traction at all.

I did not know anyone had hit the high 12s stock thats great. I just can not get into the 12s. Traction is a major issue for me I think I have the power with all my bolt ons just have not been able to do it yet. Still fun trying though!

You have a timeslip? also was your mph 106 or 107? thanks ;)

jmarcel88 01-18-2011 09:10 AM

trapp speed was 108

tyler20c 01-18-2011 10:11 AM

So you have posted 106, 107, and 108...

chuckd05 01-19-2011 11:15 AM

Just post all the numbers on the slip , including tenths and Hundreds

60foot - x.xx
330 - x.xx
1/8 Et - x.xx
1/8 mph - xx.xx
Etc....

Or better yet, post a pic Of the slip

And this was done on a track not an app or on a device right ? I once ran 12.4 on the iPhone app. Just go down hill a bit and u can be in the 11s with iPhone app. Lol. At the track I did test it on level ground and it was actually within 2 tenths but that's still way off

jmarcel88 01-20-2011 05:40 PM

it was at noproblemraceway in belle rose la,the time slip was thrown away by accident, theres another midnight madness this saturday and ill post the time slip and have a video of it,the car should run 12.7's if the weather is nice..the car is a bone stock 7spd auto..i have 20 psi in the tires and run it in standard mode..

chuckd05 01-21-2011 02:05 AM

not saying you are lieng but a stock 7spd really shouldnt go 12.7....

what was your 60 foot????

One_Quick_Z 01-21-2011 07:23 AM

Agreed, 12.7 is very unlikely in a stock 370z. Also a 12.9 is very fast for a stock Z, and you might want to consider not running your tire pressure at 20psi that might actually be working against you since at that low of a tire pressure the tire will go concave in the center.

Went to the track last night. Pretty dissapointed but here's my best run. I couldn't hook up off the line at all. Car has typhoon intakes and invidia gemini exhaust. Only has 2500 miles on it too so im hoping it will still pick up a little more power.

chuckd05 01-28-2011 02:00 PM

Your results are right on par with what they should be... the 1/4 mile is all about the first 60 feet , without a good 60 with our cars power you wont get to low 13s or 12s..

for every tenth off the 60ft it usually results in .2 off the ET... get your 60 down to a 1.9x and your right at a 13.0-13.1 where you should be happy...

this is the only reason why automatics are deemed "faster" around here, because a nice power break and launch in them doesnt result in much wheel spin, and usually nets a 2.0 or 1.9 60.

I only trapped 107 and went 12.9

tyler20c 01-28-2011 02:14 PM

hm ya idk what it is about this car but I cant seem to get any grip at all off the line. I'm not sure if the weather had anything to do with it (45 degrees) but that might be part of the problem.

Yeah, I'd be happy with your time.

I need to get my 60' down and I'll manage a 12.9 one way or another. I did trap 108mph...

tranceformer 01-28-2011 05:12 PM

I'd kill for a 107 or 108mph trap speed!

I think the weather and/or lack of track prep had something to do with the 60' time.

Next time I'd try pulling the brake light fuse and do a quick burnout to heat up the tires. Some might say you don't need to do that with street tires but it seemed to work for myself (and jnaut).

jnaut 01-28-2011 07:17 PM

a little heat will deff help. not too much with street tires as they become slippery when over heated.

tucson arizona drag time

Year: 2009
Model: base
Factory Options: none
Transmission: 6MT
Tires: stock
Bolt ons: none
Track Name: southwest international raceway
Track Temparature: 67F
DA:4269
1/4 Mile time: 14.768
R/T: .448
60': 2.358
330: 6.448

First time at the track this weekend. Problems with hooking up off the line like everyone else. Finally smoked them a little and seemed to do the trick. I launched at 3000 and thinking next time bump up to 3500 or 4000. Still a horrible time but the density altitude really F'ed me. Maybe next time Ill get in the 13's.

SIR here in Tucson is notoriously slow. You gain 3-4 tenths going up to Phoenix and almost a full second going to sea level.

tyler20c 01-31-2011 12:30 PM

Do you guys leave your foot planted while shifting into 2nd? I always let off in 2nd but stay on it in 3rd and 4th. I'm just wondering if you would get too much wheelspin if you stayed on it while going into 2nd.

serturbo 01-31-2011 05:54 PM

I'm guessing you'll spin too much. I think you're doing fine after the launch. A 105.58 mph trap is right on par for your mods. Stock 370s normally trap 103-104. Like someone else stated, your biggest obstacle to lower ETs is the launch.

IMO, it really depends on the track prep.

I powershift 4th but only if I cut a really good 60' time. Otherwise I lift on every shift. Depending on the night I could probably get away with every shift at PBIR.

yea thats what people at the track were saying, Going up to phoenix at the end of the month so that should help out. Hitting the indy track an hour south this weekend and gonna practice down there.

jbak 02-01-2011 01:33 PM

Trickle... don't expect 4 tenths off by going to Firebird... 2 maybe 3 is more like it.

What's going on a INDE this weekend ?

jnaut 02-01-2011 08:09 PM

i never let off of the skinny pedal during shifting!!

I letoff when shifting to 2nd if not the back end gets alittle fishy.

all this track talk... and i finally got my helmet back. track next week possibly!

I'm assuming the answer to this question is no, but do any of you guys know if the 17's from the 350z will fit over the akebonos in the rear? I'm trying to run some drag radials...

I haven tried...but from reading on here, 18s is the smallest diameter wheel to fit over the Akebonos.
