Import day this Sunday at Raceway Park

The smart thing for me is to wait for my new trans. & not go this Sunday. Anyone from N.Y. P.A.or N.J. why not go & race the other imports. I don't always do the smart thing.

From once/twice a night to ALL night (Ray/Jason:). Since I don't push my car or expect good times in the heat of summer, I decide to do some competion bracket type racing. I pick a comfortable time, & try to run it consistant. Just won a nice trophy at Import day at Island drag N.J. Second place:( couldn't get it into second gear in the final!!!!:bowrofl:
My second subject is that except for a performance shop on L.I. that brings several Z's, There are never any 350z/370z's at the track. NONE. I've never seen so many young people not having a desire to race/win :superghey:

Umm I went to the track 6-7 times since I got my cat and have went with many other Zs. Just because you didnt see any the times u went doesn't mean Zs dont go ...

You got the bug:) Your car looks too nice to drag race. Although, I've seen on an import day at Raceway park, a show room condition, M.B. & a B.M.W come one & two in bracket racing. Automatics rule, in bracket racing.

It was two older guys. One was at podium, the other took a drive with me. When I heard that they'll submit for a new transmission, I just wanted to hug them. Due to my manly muscled body(those that met me, know what I mean)I resisted that temptation.

b1adesofcha0s 06-24-2011 10:15 PM

Had my last stock drag day today and it was ok. It was pretty humid with temps in the 80s. Best I could do was a 13.5 s @ 103 mph. I'll post my slip some time tomorrow.

chuckd05 06-25-2011 03:06 AM

Wow And u wnt 12.9. Weather is crazy.

Makes me very happy about my last 12.9at 109 because it was 94 and insanely humid. Blades what was the DA ? You can check on drag times, my da that day was 3100+

All the other Zs I went with went 13.8ish at 102-3

I need to get my flywheel back In and get my *** back there. My CAT needs to run In good weather tho!

Mid 60s in Canada in June huh. I wish it was that here for one wednesday or Friday this summer!

tranceformer 06-25-2011 10:12 AM

Yeah, you're tellin me. It's too hot down here in south Florida to run any good times. I managed a 13.1 @ 106 last month, DA was about 1800ft. But now it's over 2000ft even at night.

I'm gonna start saving my pennies for more go fast parts (for the winter). Already have a new set of RE-11 rear tires in storage.... my 3rd set of rears for this car LOL.

Well they didn't have weather data for the track I was at, so I just used data for another track in MD. It's around 1450 ft, but I don't know how accurate that would be for where I was. The temps were definitely like 10* higher where I was though.

I think track prep might have been an issue as well. I don't really know how to tell, but I've heard the prep at Capitol Raceway sucks from every single person I've talked to about it. They call it Crapitol Raceway :bowrofl:

Only went there because I live 15 mins away. Might just go to a good track 1 hr away next time after I get my exhaust installed. Also, I only broke 12's once that other day. The rest of my runs were low 13's, so yesterday wasn't too bad. My average went from low 13's to mid 13's.

andre12031948 06-25-2011 04:57 PM

since I just put one drag tire in car-looks like I'll be at R.P Sun.

What the hell, might as well go(Raceway Park). Till I get my new trans. I'll just try some slow/careful 2nd. gear shifting. Just realized, I don't know how to do that:) Joking but I'm serious. I'll put a 13.00 second dial in, & practice:driving: before race time.

b1adesofcha0s 06-25-2011 05:00 PM

Good luck

12.67's today. no traction off the line. it rained, and was hot and humid.
it spitted rain mostof the day off and on.
It was one of the quicker times of the day every body lost a 10 th or more on the start line.
Line lock was great, TC is not for drag racing best pas was a 12.81.
still a great day considering the weather conditions,
The best 60 ft was a 1.95,
Differnt track
2 weeks ago it cut 1.853.s

I (trying to be modest:) hold the bolt on record in 07/08 hr class. Just like Jason holds the 370z class. In cool weather, I do 12.5s/12.6s with 1.69 to 1.8 60'. My best is 12.504 @ 110 mph. 1.69 60 foot. I have a time slip where I did 13.08 @ 72 MPH. That's from bracket racing where I needed to slow down not to break out. Since you don't know me, I should tell you, I'm an old guy:tiphat: Car will surprise you how stock it is.

JUST NOTICED This Sunday is import day at Raceway Park. I think......

tranceformer 06-25-2011 07:50 PM

You should see all the stuff Andre crams into his Z for race days. :icon17:

chuckd05 06-25-2011 07:55 PM

than we should be a great run dude.. i have should have you run my car down the strip with my MT ET streets... if you can pull a 1.69 in my car itll go 12.3 or better i gaurantee that... in anything under 80 degrees

andre12031948 06-25-2011 08:11 PM

I use slicks, but it took me like 10+ months to figure out how to truly use them. When you have only apx. 290 h.p, it takes more than just slicks or M.T. drag radials to do a 1.7 60'. I'm not asking for much tomorrow. I want to win & not break an axle. O.k I'll settle for not breaking down.

Ray's comment - I bring a case of wine, boxes of t-shirt/jeans that I sell in between runs, my medication, & my good luck cat.

Heartbreaks

Ok, thousands of people. Between car shows, P. Rico racing teams, low riders, side riders, most speakers in car contest, bikini contests, bands, a dozen different drag classes, even motor cycle racing. The whole of Raceway Park mobed with people and cars. Every race, color & species was there. Everyone was friendly!
"The Heatbreaks" I was there, and a group of maybe 6/7 other Zs were there as well. Before my first run in bracket two, all the Zs were gone. I love to see Zs at the track, & love to see them kick azz. Not today. "My heartbreak". Shifting into 2nd. gear is almost gone. So crowded, they only had time for one practice run. I made up a time for a dial in of 13.25. The class was the biggest. Three lines of cars in that class. Something like 60 cars. Two racers were old timers (pros. known by the track). One had best off wins, all over his old station wagen, the other one had 174 wins. NOT car wins:) Bracket racing/best of wins!!!! etc. 25 year old 4 dr. car, that's dialed in at 17.76 seconds & runs 17.76 seconds almost every time & the guy lives 15 min away, racing there for 30 years. You think he knows the lights:) Anyway, slamming on brakes, almost using two hands to put into second, having reaction times like .018 followed by .000. Yes, .OOO! by-run for lowest R/T. that & more got me to the last few cars. Both pros red lighted, go figure:) I'm about to run a Honda, that I was sure I was going to beat, when the trans made it very hard to get into second. I chase him down, only to lose by an inch or two. Pissed as hell, but what could I do? Lucky to get this far MY LAST RACE before getting new trans.!!!! Left track at 8 pm, just got home. Racing is fun, winning is more fun:)

b1adesofcha0s 06-26-2011 11:25 PM

Sad but I believe all the Zs got eliminated in the first round. We could have used you;)

tranceformer 06-27-2011 08:37 AM

Chuck, IIRC bracket racing uses a 'pro tree' and counts the reaction time towards the ET. Different ball game.

tranceformer 06-27-2011 09:10 AM

Tough break Andre, but atleast you're getting a free transmission.

Thanks Ray-just sent private msg. to Jason about cluth/fly wheel recommendation. I trust his knowledge more than anyone's. I never had shifting problems, & DON'T want them again! I want to compete in racing. It's a challenge. All different cars/drivers. Winning trophies & money is fun. If things work out, I should do well.
