According to Nissan the 332 hp is at 7000 rpm then h.p. starts falling. The 7500 redline is just a setting to protect the engine from damage from over reving. My point was that shifting above the peek h.p.(closer to or at redline) will produce better ET's/times. I stated the reasons why.

However you are correct, a tune(with mods) will raise the h.p. & it will do so at a higher rpm. The shop will also raise the redline so you can take advantage of the extra power.

The 2 things I was going to suggest are exactly what you are planning to do, Osires Uprev tune & tires for better traction (find out how to heat them(fuse). With an automatic you should be doing 1.8/1.9 60'. 2.20 60' is for 14-15 seconds cars:)

Oh yes, have the shop raise the redline & they would know more about making the auto trans work at its best.

Went to the track back at the end of april . Mods are M370 intake manifold, stillen gen 3 intake, and I ran with the hypertech stillen gen 3 tune. I ran the car 6 times. 3 times on the hypertech, followed by 3 times on the stock tune. The hypertech tune produced my fastest run of the day, but i only had two runs with perfect traction, and they were both on the hypertech tune. As the sun went down behind the tower the track conditions got bad. best hypertech run - 12.856 at 106.25 1.944 60 best stock tune run - 13.205 at 105.82 2.071 60 . Trap speeds were within .5 mph. Awesome times man! What tires were you running and what rpm were you launching at with the 7AT? I'm asking because I've never gotten 60' times that good and it would definitely help me out if I could.

It is pretty good advice for most people that arent aware of how their powerband works. I've yet to take my car to the track since my tune, but I can tell you this, at 7600-7700 it was still making power on the dyno. So I will be shifting around 8k, at least for one run :)

Is your Z a base or touring? sport package?

One thing to keep in mind: your tachometer might not be 100% accurate. I know mine is off by 200 rpm. at 8000 rpm mine reads 8200 rpm.

my car is a touring non sport.

Blades - I run on the stock 18 inch wheels with stock yokohama tires. As for launching I just sidestep the brake and floor it quickly but smooth. I've tried bringing up the revs on the foot brake and then launching, but it doesn't seem to help my sixties. Then again I haven't tried pulling the brake fuse yet. I've got exhaust on order and I just bought a pair of drag radials for the track. I wind the tach all the way to redline every gear. It's hard to time the shift perfectly before the rev limiter. I can't stand the soft rev limiter in this car. Hard to tell you hit it until it's too late. If I hit the limiter then shift i get a thud and slower et's.

One quick - I'm not on chicagoz, never heard of it until now..haha. Havent been to any meets either, I'm out your way near Joliet. I've only had the car for a year now.

Oh and blades... You have lowering springs correct? I think the reason you can't match your stock times are due to the springs. The increase in rear camber has got to kill traction.

.4 out of a n/a tune is as good of a gain as you could ever expect. I wouldn't of returned it.

My best Time in my 6sp 12.92 was done on open diff. Lol

Seems base models always go .1-.2 quicker

chuckd - best run on hypertech tune was at 33 psi. I decreased the tire pressure later in the day hoping for better traction. On the best mph stock tune I was at 28 psi ( more rolling resistance ) and the difference between tunes was 106.25-105.82 . Throttle response was better on the stock tune. Times were slower because I had more wheel spin on the stock tune runs. So even if hypertech gave me 6 hp or so...which I really dont believe, the car drove better on the stock tune. Plus I got my money back and may use it for uprev.

Cool. Yeah I forgot that my camber is like .3-.4 degrees out more after I got my car lowered. Even so, I've gotten my 60' times down to 2.0x which is about 0.03 s away from my best.

I also haven't tried pulling the brake fuse and I probably never willl. I usually put my foot on the brake and rev up to around 1500-2000 rpm and simultaneously let go of the brake and floor it. I think I tried just holding the brake and not revving up once before, but it didn't help much. I'll have to try it again the next time I go.

I think tires are the main thing holding my times back. These all seasons just don't grip as good as a summer tire, but I'm still determined to get into the 12's with them. Just need to wait for a night with some low temps.

I have 2011 MT6 Sport w/ Post MAF Tubes, K&N Drop ins, Invidia TP, UPrev Tune. Car pulled 309.89 RWHP & 263.13 TQ on Dyno.

I was shifting into 4th right @ the end of the 1/4 rest of shifts were @ around 7700 RPM.

I am a little disappointed but I am sure it was just driver error.

I have F.I. exhaust ordered and plan on getting Boosted Performance turbo kit as soon as I can order it..so we will fix this. :driving:

You get 4:08 gears & a good set of drag tires.
With your H.P. & those two additions will get you easily into the 12's....

Should be in the 12's with out 4.08's and dragtires, just need more driver time at the track.

Same here. I hit 13.0x a couple weeks ago with all season tires. Hoping the summer tires will be enough to get me back in the 12's.

Actually I think I'll go next Friday instead. Temps are supposed to be about 10* cooler.

I agree little more time behind the wheel and some drag tires will make a huge difference, thanks for the input guys. I don't feel as disappointed.

It takes me 2&1/2 hours to RacewayPark(with no traffic) & 3 hours to Atco. If I had a track 45 min. from my house, I'd be there every week.

I kind of got bored of drag racing after doing it so much last year. Kind of just want to beat my stock time and be done with it. Of course I will go back if I get a new mod just to beat my old time, but that's about it. Getting more into doing hyperdrives and HPDE's on road courses, I find it a lot more fun.

I put my CBE yesterday, and the headers get here Thursday. I'll put those in with my pulleys and then get the uprev, then take it to the track and see what happens. I'm running all-seasons though, so I'm not expecting too much awesomeness :)

My eyes are on the 12.2 1/4 mile record but after test drive I'm not so sure. The car didn't feel that quick & there is much more shifter vibration than in my HR 08 350z. Do they all have that kind of vibration?

Yep, mostly the upper RPM range such as 5000+ RPM. I kinda got used it after the first few weeks of driving it. Take it or leave it, that's what it is.

Why is it so hot here I want to get some track time in :( Looks like I will just have to wait until fall time like always.
