Looking forward to your report!

I'd like to shave at least 1/2 sec. off; though my wheel/tires aren't optimal for best times.
I just want to see how it runs as is vs. the base wheel's & then looking to get a lighter set of wheels/tires for the dragstrip only.

Thats awesome!

What tires did you use for these runs?

Was the car on E85 for the day, did you dyno these mods?

The tires used were Mickey Thompson E/T street radials on 300zx rims!
The car dynod at 308hp with these mods a few weeks after this was ran.
And negative, 93 Octane was used.

Do you have the 1st or 2nd grind cam now?

i have the first set of cams JWT came out with.
i don't think the C2 cams are out to the general public yet?

SG4247 01-06-2018 09:02 AM

Interesting, would have thought it would make more power than that based on your 1/4 mile time.

But, that may have been a stingy dyno too...

not at all!
intakes, tear pipes, and CBE usually make around that power?

SG4247 01-06-2018 08:43 PM

Yes, 306 hp is in-line for the mods you had at the time. BUT if your car weighs 3400 lbs and makes 306 WHP - it would normally run about 13.00 sec 1/4 at 104 mph in decent conditions.

BUT, your car actually ran 12.66 @ 3400 lbs at a strong 110 mph which is more like 330 WHP in my opinion (and according to most drag calculators like quarter jr).

So, I think it ran better than expected at the track! Maybe it had a really good driver mod?

Have you dyno'd it since adding the cams, port work, headers, 3" intake etc..?

Should really haul now..

aireoh 01-06-2018 09:35 PM

makes sense. i had been trying for some time to get a sub 13.00 pass.

and no, i haven’t Dyno’d it recently yet. i was going to this weekend, but i’m having some real major issues.
check out my other thread i just started about my car problems.

Lotta things come into play on a good 1/4 pass; as I only made 271/275whp on 4/5th gear on Dynojet-3days after going 13.1@104.89

As did mine..

Mine went 13.19 with 272 whp and 225 ft-lbs on a dynojet.

30 hp more would have gotten me to 12.80s in perfect conditions.

jchammond 01-20-2018 09:29 PM

Carolina Dragway Tomorrow...Pending No Work-Related Roadcall;
1-5pm.
Gonna make a few passes before any more mods/got the worn out 345/30's strapped on the back & still hoping for 12.70's or quicker,,,but you never know.
:)

So far my best is a 13.5 in 95 degree weather and humid as ****. Since then I've installed 4.08 gears and I'll have a 100-shot (to the wheels) hooked up so I'm VERY curious what I'll be running

I’ll repost after Trip, as I didn’t get called in-So it’s a go!
I’ll be sitting on 1/2 tank fuel w/full size spare in back...I’m pretty sure I’ll hook with tire’s heated up a bit,,,as they’re over kill on a N/A ~Z~... but tires light up easy cold.

The Nittos I have, as long as it's warm out, hook with no problem with the 4.08s. Now that may change when nitrous is in the mix and I'll probably end up using first and possibly second gear lock out.

I’ll return; 2nd week back to work & getting better every day (78 days since crash).
Glad someone is updating list.

Went back to the track on Friday 4/27. Decent racing weather.

DA = 1600ft

2010 Touring 7AT
Mods are:
Empty trunk - 3510 lbs with driver
Enkei 18 x 10.5 rear wheels w/ MT ET Str SS 285 tires @ 25 psi
Stillen G3 Intake
48 row cooler (ET penalty due to weight)
Mobile 1 10-30w oil
DIY ported upper and lower intake
Ebay test pipes (Manzo)
Ackrapovich CBE
Pulled brake fuse
No yaw or traction control
3 gal of 91 Octane gas and 2 gal of 94
Factory Nismo Front wheels and 285 tires (weight penalty over my MT skinnies)
NO TUNE
3.69 Gear in the VLSD

Two new mods, the Stillen G3 and the 3.69 gear. Car ran solid 13.40s all day. The new rear gear really helps the 7AT car for all round driveablity over the 3.33, and the sixty foot times were much more consistent. The Stillen G3 was a let down because there wasnt any noticeable gain in power. The 3.69 gear now has me crossing the stripe at 7K rpm.

Car needs a tune now, but in spite of all these mods the AFR was roughly 12.4:1 under WOT.

Ohh and I forgot to add, I noticed on the run playback (dashcommand) that the engine struggles to recover after the gear changes now...like the timing is slow and the mixture is too rich.

FPenvy 04-30-2018 10:31 AM

6 years later i'm still 8th NA time not too bad.

i always get a kick out of people stripping the car out and no gas for the NA time slots :bowrofl:

i pulled up to the track with a full tank of gas, PSS tires, plus my luggage for the weekend trip in the back. ran back to back times within .001 and drove home :driving:

SG4247 04-30-2018 10:40 AM

SG4247 04-30-2018 12:40 PM

Yea..be nice to have this list current - on the forum.

Have you run your Z lately? Cool that you are still around the community.

i ran a few 1/4 runs last summer for a friends tack day rental. prep was meh and it was 80-85 that day couldnt break 13.01 all day. still on street tires, full tank, full weight. also all the same power mods as my pb.

bthomas87 07-07-2018 03:02 PM

I'm the left lane #97.
2nd time out.
2016 Sport 6 speed
Only "mod" I have is k&n drop ins.
Still working on getting a better time.
Getting quite a bit of wheel spin going into 2nd. I'm running Firehawk Indy 500's and they're definitely not made for this.

Thanks man!
The temperature was 73, humidity 53.
I launched at 3,000rpm
I kept playing with the rear tire pressure and I ran my best at 24psi hot.
I did a total of 7 passes last night.

Not really only a slip to clean tires

Well I went to the track tonight. It rained most of the day here and the track was damp beyond the 60 foot. Was looking for 12.70s but I kept getting wheel hop shifting into second.

Had to settle for a 12.97. Which is decent for the conditions.

DA = 1600 ft

http://www.the370z.com/members/steve...drag-strip.jpg

http://www.the370z.com/members/steve...strip-time.jpgmy 2010 auto with 3.69 diff gears, stillen intake, fast intentions exhaust with an uprev tune and hankook rs3 z222 305's on the back couldn't get traction in 1st and second.

They were brand new with about 1000km on them but with just 5 passes the tires were melting and was very disappointed with this so called racing tire.

it was my first time doing this and i ran the stock 32 psi pressure.

Also my wife was in the car to , they let you take a passenger at this place.

i was in the left lane t2

SG4247 10-27-2018 07:08 PM

Drop the wife off and run 12 s!

Oopps dont tell her I said that....

SG4247 10-27-2018 07:10 PM

Seriously its about .1 sec for every 100 lbs, maybe more.

So, weight is a big deal on the little 3.7 V6.

Went to the track after work yesterday thinking I could get into the 12.7s. Had the skinny MT fronts and the 285 drag radials on with 1/2 tank of E85. Weather predicted to be in the 50s with low humidity.

DA = 900 - 1100 ft

2010 Touring 7AT
Mods are:
Empty trunk - 3450 lbs with 250 lb driver
Enkei 18 x 10.5 rear wheels w/ MT ET Str SS 285 tires @ 23 psi
MT skinny fronts on 18” factory spare wheels
Stillen G3 Intake
48 row cooler (ET penalty due to weight)
Mobile 1 10-30w oil
DIY ported upper and lower intake
Motordyne ART pipes
Ackrapovic CBE
No yaw or traction control
10 gal E85
GTR Injectors
Ecutek tune
3.69 Gear w/VLSD
Odessey 680 battery
Synolimit TBs
Z1 2 pc front rotors

Car runs good, but it is maxed out and is going about as fast as it can with the power available. Happy with the 12.89 but feel like the Ackrapovic exhaust may be holding it back? Scratching my head on what to do next...any suggestions are welcome.

tonyHTX 11-03-2018 04:24 PM

Not a 370z, but my friend asked me to street tune his G37 Coupe. We put the car to the test tonight at the strip and beat SharpByCoop's previous record.. Just barely! :driving:

I think there's still more in her, but we only got 3 passes tonight. Hopefully next time we'll get even better times!
