thanks!! Do you have any plans to build your motor? I just wonder how much these damn 3.7s can take.. guess so far they have proven to be almost builtproof up to 550+whp

chuckd05 10-11-2011 07:54 PM

Blades it's ALL about weather conditions and tires. Was ur 12.9 with a better 60 foot?

As far as the motors go I've seen more n/a Motors blow than FI motors. Are all you turbo guys staying on top of your oil level. Are you burning more oil ?

My tires are the same as before, but with more wear over the year. DA was like 700-800 ft higher than before and the 12.9 was with a better 60 ft by ~0.05 s. I felt like I could have broken into the 12's again, but the track prep wasn't good. I kept slipping at the same point on the track where I would be shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The VDC light didn't come on, but I could feel the tires slipping. Gonna try to head out to a better track before the season is over, maybe back to the track where I had my 12.9 run.

I've also been toying with the idea of taking out my passenger seat when I run next time....

Z eliminator 10-12-2011 06:38 AM

If you take out seat you will have to reset the air bag light when you put it back in.
Make sure that you lower the head rest on the seat all the way down before you remove it .(much easyerto remove seat and you will not scratch the plastic interior molding around the doors and the center console. The wiring plugs for the seat can be a pain the first time you take them out. Make sure that your car is off and i disconect my battery before i take it out,and put it back in,
It weights is 51 lbs.

Thanks!

Not sure if I want to do it or not. Might not be worth all the trouble to get it out and put it back in all at the track.

chuckd05 10-12-2011 02:27 PM

You run with VDC on ?

No, but even when it's off it still kicks in sometimes if it detects too much wheelspin. I never bothered to pull the brake fuse though.

chuckd05 10-13-2011 12:36 PM

The seat is simple to remove. IMO just remove the headrest before you take it out. It's a 20 minute process tops to remove or install it. I didn't pull battery since you get the light either way but there's a pedal reset for thr airbag you don't need to go to dealer.

Just search airbag reset for the pedal reset sequence.

Is it any different for the touring seats? I might try it if I can get someone to go there with me. I need someone that actually has tools and can watch my stuff for me while I run.

Wow, is it like that here at the AutoX runs? You actually have to keep an eye on your stuff? There were thousands of dollars of parts/tools/equipment left all around at every HPDE Ive gone to and nobody even gave it a second thought to just leave them every night...

Idk, but I'm not used to just leaving my stuff there all out in the open and unattended.

Ok so I'm finally heading out to the drag strip tomorrow morning. Taking my passenger seat out tonight with the help of Kirkster. If I don't beat my stock time now I'm gonna be sooooo pissed :icon17:

Just saying, you should get tuned then. I noticed when I put my g3's on after having test pipes and exhaust the car felt slower. A tune picked me up 20whp on a mustang dyno...Car feels good again.

Going to get a tune after I get some HFCs.

Also I didn't beat my time, I think because my new tires hadn't been completely broken in yet. Will try again soon before the tracks close up for the winter.

The track was flooded with rain water from sat. Last week, we only ran thd 1/8 th 8.12 was my best traction was not good 1.94 best 60 on that run.
will be going tomorrow, track will be closed soon

Skeeterbop 11-05-2011 01:51 AM

No time slip for me tonight, but my best was a 15.23. Weather was nice mid to upper 60s, and <20% humidity.

Z eliminator 11-05-2011 05:41 PM

just got back from the track.
Ran a 12.521 @ 113.7 with a 1.93 60ft.
we were running into a 10 mile head wind,
Had a few 1.86 60 ft times but there we traction issues on the lanes down the track, but still a good day.
I ran the stock intake manifold today. instead of the motordyne. I can feel the difference as the motordyne pulls harder of the line and down the track,
It may be open next saturday weather permitting.
Z.

Still a great time man

I am planning on going next Friday night. Red__Zed will hopefully be able to join me with his WRX and 5.0 on a visit back to VA. Anyone still interested in doing the big east coast drag racing showdown is welcome to come :icon17:

I was up there a couple weeks ago, it was way too crowded. Kind of far for me so i think I will pass. Good luck though

I'll be aiming for 12's again.

I was planning on going last night, but the track was closed because it was too cold. It sucks because my car felt so fast driving around last night :icon17:

Nice meeting you too, Dave. Good runs.

And you've got the #15 spot. Congrats.

Z eliminator 11-12-2011 09:49 PM

It ran a 12.62 @ 113.72.
The had no glue left for the track .
It was a total un prepared surface from the start line to the finish line.
and the temp was 51 degerees
first pass was the best with a 1.93, 60 ft time. It smoked down the track but it spun the tire on the 3rd to 4th shift. 12.62 pass. That would have been a great run if it did not spin the tires. I had the air preasure down to 14.5 psig, And it did this with a totally un preped lane.
on the second pass i launched hard and loaded up the converter and the tire broke loose of the line 2.13 60 ft at it ran a 12.73.. The moter made lots of power today.
I also had a 21.0 second run with 1.96 60 ft. In second gear the car broke loose and started heading toward the left wall drifiting sideways. I lifted and got it going straight. ( a real bad feeling ) That was it for the day and the year.
