You're lucky the track was closed last time I wanted to go out there, I was hoping to finally beat my stock time. Oh well, I'm coming for your spot when it opens back up in March. :stirthepot:

Too cold to race up there? It's just beginning to get cool down here now. :icon23:

Yep, you and me both. Still in the Top 20. :icon17:

You haven't made any passes lately? I'm surprised I haven't seen you post any slips yet.

Sadly yes. They are open on Sunday I think, but I have work on Sundays :(

One_Quick_Z 11-17-2011 10:08 PM

I didnt go to the track all year, except when I went at Branson Z fest and it was way to hot out and track prep was horrible.... next spring I should be able to add to the N2O times list :) I hope to have gotten a new set up at that point and maybe even improve my N/A times!

do you guys allow 135i's on the list ? Since there is a G37 figured I'd ask...Lmao

12.2@120 with a shitty 1.98 60ft... went once than the track closed down due to multiple people crashing ..... i guess a bunch of inexperienced guys were out because I have never ever seen so many people hit the wall within an hour.. there was oil everywhere! drove 4 hours for 1 pass... pretty awesome... atleast i trapped 120!

Great time!

tranceformer 11-20-2011 07:42 PM

120mph holy sh!t !!

Was that 1.98 on slicks?

chuckd05 11-20-2011 08:05 PM

Na a weak *** warm up launch on nitto nt05R which by the way are a VERY good tire. I had way more traction than I thought I would and it bogged down and paused for a sec. All I needed was one more pass and I woulda went 11.xx.

this 120 trap is on stock intercooler and turbos . This is with jb4 tune, fail safe tune integrated washer fluid meth injection kit, Downpipe, and cat-less exhaust - all of which I paid under 2k total for. With a race gas / 93 mix.

My issue now is axles. At my current power level (450whp 450wtq ISH ) half shafts Start to go so I must be careful. But with all of this said, i still miss the Z and wish I could have both cars.... Each has its advantages over the other, but this cars speed, especially top end is absurd... after that 1 run and other drivers crashing we were sitting still and multiple people came over asking wtf does my car have to trap 120... its impressive how easily this car goes fast.. it does get expensive after where I am at now to go to next level but 120 traps is nice for a comfortable fairly quiet DD. this cars "VVEL" obsticle is the fuel system, there is really no upgrades and is the only thing holding these motors to really making more power..

I got a chance to head to the drag strip myself yesterday. The damn track people set it up so that it was pretty much impossible for me to go around the water box. I would get at least one of my tires wet each time, which would ruin the run. Only got one run in which that didn't happen, it was my first one and I ran a 13.1 @ 108.3 mph.

I guess I'll have to wait till March to try and beat my stock time :(

Speaking of axles, for one of my runs, the guy right in front of me snapped his rear axle and his car had to be towed off the track. I had to wait another 15-20 mins before I could finally run.

is it possible to do a burnout with the auto ? A small one would at least help... the track I went to Friday ( Atco ) it is impossible not to go through the water and there is a lot of it... a good burnout is nessasary...

Probably not without at least pulling the brake fuse. I've never really tried. The annoying thing is that I've been to this same track at least 3-4 times before this year and never had that issue before. Probably didn't help that there were only 2-3 cars that were on street tires the whole day, including myself.

chuckd05 11-20-2011 08:31 PM

while i was at the track a guy in a g37x went 13.0@108 in full auto mode with intake and a tune... the weather was favorable obviously but i was impressed... he also bitched about the water and tried doing a Nuetral drop and said something about it cutting off , lmao... but his awd obviously helped him still get a 1.9x 60

tranceformer 11-20-2011 09:04 PM

congrats chuck, glad you got a nice running car.

blades, a word of caution when pulling the brake light fuse. You won't be able to move the shifter from "Park" to "Drive" because it the car doesn't know you're pushing the brake pedal when the fuse has been removed. So when you do decide to do it, pull up the e-brake, leave it in "Neutral" then turn off the car. Pull the fuse. When it's time to make a run, it'll start up in neutral and you should be able to slide it into Drive even though the fuse isn't there.

A little something I learned watching a 350Z 5AT at our local track.

I don't know if I'm even gonna try pulling the brake fuse, but thanks anyway for the advice.

Quite the opposite actually. Cars on slicks actually help keep the track sticky, they throw down some sticky rubber on to the track. Street tire cars are the ones that mess it up.

I meant for the water box issue. :p

With only 2-3 cars that needed to go around it and not through it, I don't think they really cared much about it.

HELLO!!! :tiphat:

I'm about to get my car back from being parked at The Shop for 8 weeks (long story, no action though). I'm going to give it one final try before the season is over to breach 11.6's.

Anything in the twelves or lower on these rides starts getting FUN!

May as well add a non-370 platform list.

I'm thinking of bying & drag racing a 370z

I'm thinking of trying a 370z with bolt-ons(only)class. I like being in that almost stock class, because the driver is the most important mod. A 500h.p. Z getting beat by a 600h.p Z, reflects more on the builder & the owner's wallet.
Looks like there's not much going on here at this time. Nothing exotic, maybe I'll do an after market exhaust this time.
I'm thinking that I might be able to be in the 12.1 to 12.4 range.
Looking forward for some fun. As always, I would welcome 350z/370z racers to join me. MD, N.J. N.Y. drag strips. Keep you posted.

BLACK or WHITE color....:)

Good to get some excitement going before coming winter:)

I'll go to MD. I'd like to meet Mike & some others.

As far as more racing, how about Atco. It's close to MD.

I did make an appearance last spring at that small MD track.
It was a cold, very windy(sideway) day. Two runs, 12.6's then because of much side wind & long trip home, I left after just two runs. A yellow Camaro there got a suprise when he lost:) one car lenght 12.6 vs 12.7

Now I'm getting psyched...........

2.5 hrs away from me in NJ, that's kinda far :icon17:

I'd be ok with something within MD itself. Of course, we'd have to wait till March when the tracks open up again.

andre12031948 11-29-2011 05:29 PM

In a couple of weeks I should know what I 'm doing/which way I'm going. If it's a 370z then 2011 or 2012? Same mods as 08 but change to 4:08 gears plus an exhaust of my design/idea. If it's a 2011, I'l need an oil cooler. Which is best? Do tinted windows help in the 1/4 mile? Got to go now.
Later......

tranceformer 11-29-2011 10:20 PM

Andre, are you coming down to FL this winter?

tomorrow night is test & tune, with a low of 52 degrees... ;)

Z eliminator 11-30-2011 04:17 AM

My season up here is over. Next year the target is mid 11.s.
I bought a new 7 AT with 100 miles on it and GTM is building it into a stage 4 for me.
I would like to make a pass with it to see if it will get me into the 12.2's with the N/A set up.
But the car will have the GTM stage 2 SC on it and im going to be running 11 lbs boost
I got a price for the roll bars set up 2500.00.
It was a good year at the track this year.

Hi buddy, I wish I could. My Z not running, totaled/flooded, at shop, LS?
LS swap=very expensive/not street reliable/must be automatic:(. What to do? 370Z ?

Last year, even with all my problems, front wheels/tires didn't fit-wide radial front tires & reg ply slicks don't mix=I was all over the track-second gear was broken(that was a bitch)-learned later/in spring that I was not using the slicks the proper way. With all that, I still had a good time.
Would love to come, but with no car, I won't.
Maybe next year. Strip club a must!
Raceway Park N.J. in spring????

chuckd05 11-30-2011 12:18 PM

Atco is 2.5 away from me in NY. sounds like a good Meeting point lol

Long island people are screwed out of close tracks due to rich people bitching about noise until 11pm :-(

andre12031948 11-30-2011 03:33 PM

It took me 1 & 1/2 hours from E. Meadow to Raceway Park N.J. Coming back, 4&1/2 hours:)

tranceformer 11-30-2011 03:49 PM

I used to live about 30 min from Raceway Park, but now I'm about 20 hours away!

On the brightside, I live 20 min from another nice track.

tranceformer 11-30-2011 11:48 PM

Made a few passes tonight. I did pretty decent, weak ET's but I managed to trap 108+ mph most of the night.

Finished the night with a 12.962 @ 108.52 mph, 1.975 60ft. The rest of the night was mostly low 13's @ 108 mph, with weak 60ft times. Getting better at launching the car w/ the gears & new tires, I probably won't go back until I get a tune.

mods:
Stillen oil cooler
Berk HFC's
JWT flywheel
4.08 gears
SPL solid diff bushings
285/35/19 RE-11's
HPS post-MAF tubes
DBA 2pc front rotors

I need to get my car tuned ASAP!!!!

SharpByCoop 12-01-2011 05:12 PM

I'm prepping to go to Atco this saturday (Dec 3rd). Weather appears to be clear and heading toward low-fifties.

Looking to widen your lead on the top spot?

SharpByCoop 12-02-2011 07:35 AM

I've changed a few things: Exhaust (ARK Grip) and we just retuned it with lower AFR's. This, with a little added race fuel at the track, should allow me to crank up the boost a bit.

Air quality will be primo.

I'm .13" away from an 11.5 run. (or a rebuild!) LOL!

Coop

Z eliminator 12-02-2011 02:18 PM

.15 will take a great run as to get that improvement is very tuff.

chuckd05 12-02-2011 10:55 PM

I was going to bring my 135 out tomorrow but things have come up. Good luck. Atco is amazing this Time of year for breaking records. Whether its personal bests or leader boards !

I'm getting a vbox ASAP though as 3-4 hour drives on traffic are not worth one run like I got last trip to atco as they closed early due to bozo's crashing !! Was 35 and people wouldn't let off when they were getting tail happy. Sucked !

SharpByCoop 12-03-2011 07:25 PM

Conditions at Atco today were ideal: sunny, crisp 50° air, traction, and no wind.

I did not even get into the elevens. :(

I've had multiple changes since I last went out: New exhaust (ARK Grip), slightly richer Uprev tune, changed boost controller switch (Blitz controller breaks after 6 mos and doesn't go into boost mode. Scrapyard junk, although it boosted properly.)

Multiple passes with a new HKS EVC-S boost controller proved it to be non-functioning or something. Jimmy was frustrated enough with it at The Shop that he turned it off until we got input from someone at HKS (or a distributor) who understands this particular unit. When you turn it off it runs on waste gate spring pressure alone. That was not enough boost. About 8 lbs.

That was my best run: 12.05 @ 117mph.

Any time I tried to run with the boost controller it would boost HARD to either spin the tires, and/or run into the HKS 'safe' Drop Mode and drop down to about 5 lbs of boost for the duration of 2nd gear--then it would come back in hard, but I'm halfway down the track. It still ran 117 when it came back on. Another 12.0 bucking and jerking.

A simple inexpensive manual boost controller would have been MUCH more trouble free. Sigh.

Anyway, that's the close of my season. We'll diagnose the EVC-S and either get it right (with input) or scrap it. The directions are complex and translated Japanese. Maybe there is an incorrect hookup. I dunno.

I did get an aborted pass with a 1.80" 60" time, so it was working hard.

Drag racing is hard. My experiences show me there are usually more disappointments than successes, but I'm persistent. After I regain my dismay, we figure out how to not make the same mistakes. And figure out new ones. :bowrofl:

Coop
