And get some mt et streets

The da when I trapped 108.97 was 2200 , I'd imagine ur traps should be 1-2 mph higher.

Did you re tune after headers ?

Nice time. Still at it I love that.

It seems the hurdle is 60 ft...

Why not shoot a small shot of n2o go look at what the vq35de does with nitrous.

They are pulling some insanely good times with relatively small shots. Even maybe a 75 straight outta the hole. Should get you to 12.1-3 I'd imagine rather easily.

Thanks bro

I prefer to stay all motor, no plans or desire to go with FI either.

No need for ET streets, I can pull off 1.9x and 1.8x 60ft times consistently with street tires.

Yes, I did retune after the headers + motordyne y-pipe. The tune did not do much, maybe 5hp or so. Later on I plan to get some 2pc rear rotors and get a custom 3" exhaust after the motordyne y-pipe.

Interesting info. I know in the Challenger world, the autos are much faster than the 6 speed manuals. Seems like most of the guys pushing these cars have manual trans though?

My 2009 Challenger runs 11.50s at 124MPH. It's a manual trans car with a built motor and a supercharger. My buddy's auto same track same day just about same everything runs 5/10 faster.

270 rwhp on a mustang dyno (the tuner said 30 to 40hp above stock)
i swapped out the y-pipe with an aftermarket one
yes i added longtube headers
just flip a coin

270whp on jacks dyno? That's impressive as hell!

...so with a CBE, HFC and a CAI would that be on the modified list ?

I guess I need to head down to Budd's Creek one of these days.

1.88-1.99 is decent but a 1.75 with et streets or nitto nt05r would put ur car somewhere you'd be thrilled with.

Nothing you do at this point minus fi will get you the return proper drag tires would.

This is sound advice. I haven't tried the 370 at the track yet, but the Challenger would never run below 12.82 on street tires and it's a 600RWHP car. The trap speeds were in the 120s so I knew the power was there, it just wouldn't hook up and I had to avoid boost until 3rd gear and still spun.

Bought some M&H DRs and slapped them on and shaved 8/10 of a second my first time using them, then shaved another 5/10 past that once I got used to launching them. 60's went from 2.x to 1.76 (best so far).

Not sure what other mod for the money can shave that much time.

SharpByCoop 02-05-2012 07:14 AM

Props on the street drags. I have a relatively soft-leaving auto, and even still, it dropped .3 tenths first time out. 3 tenths at the 60' time is worth more than midtrack.

They stay consistent, too.

Fortunately the hard winter has avoided the Northeast. So far.

That said, The Shop CT has already rented Atco Dragway for Monday Mar 5th.

It will be pricier than a friday T&T, but no waiting. Consider. I'm planning on being there with my newest setup.

Coop

chuckd05 02-12-2012 04:28 PM

Coop how do I sign up for that ? I'll bring my 135i

SharpByCoop 02-13-2012 06:27 AM

Call Jimmy or Lisa at The Shop to confirm and get specifics. Website: The Shop.

Excellent!

Went out to the track for the first time yesterday; weather was nasty: very cloudy with a 15mph head wind. DA was 1432 ft.

Here are the timeslips. On the last pass they gave us a pro-tree and it messed me up :icon14:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._021912006.jpg

BTW, my car is a stock 2011 Touring Sport 7AT.

Speedy 02-20-2012 01:49 PM

Wow, those 60'. I'm guessing the car was spinning a bit. Try lowering the tire pressure in the rear and bump it in the front next go.

I had 26psi for the first 2 runs. I lowered them to 25psi for the last one but the light issue messed up with my launch approach. One I saw the green I just slammed it.

I guess it was the issue of getting caught up racing against the guy in the other lane, it was a Mach 1 Mustang from a Mustang club that was racing that day. I beat him  but messed up my 60', I had my best trap speed on that run so with a better launch I would had improved my time.

Anyway, it was my first time and now I'm hooked!

Speedy 02-20-2012 02:45 PM

Yeah it happens like that. I went one time in my Challenger then I had to have drag radials, stronger axles, race tunes, more boost, on and on LOL

PapaJFresh 02-21-2012 01:00 PM

Here's a video of my quickest pass.

Bucketlist2012 02-24-2012 07:00 PM

I am greatly impressed with the new technology ...I have owned a 300ZX, a 350Z, and now a 370Z sport touring, and it is incredible...No time slips, but my 1971 Pro touring Z/28 witht eh factory LT-1, close ratio M-21 and 3.73 gears running 400Hp plus ran a 13.3 at 104 20 year ago..i have yet to run it with the new Kand N, MSD, Exhaust and Complete suspension overhaul, but I have a V8..I am sure my new 370 is side by side with the Z/28, and that is with a 6 cylinder auto stock and I have a lot of engine mods. ...Very, Very impressed...Then you get into the handling and the 370z is much more fun to drive...

It is sweet having the best of both worlds and my car from my youth modernized with high end goodies, but the 370Z......Man oh man..I am glad i got it, got the touring sport..LOVE it.

Speedy 02-24-2012 07:26 PM

I'll be hitting the track with mine soon :)

Sh0velMan 02-27-2012 11:39 AM

I did a 13.68 @ 103.95mph w/ 2.13 60' yesterday. Mods as listed in the sig. I really can't launch this car worth a crap yet though, too used to AWD from past cars.

tranceformer 02-27-2012 05:51 PM

Could you post a slip to confirm it?

We're still on. FYI.

My car is running like Jack the Bear. If you've never heard that saying, you're a LOT younger than me. LOL!

I looked for the slip...

I had 6 passes total, 3 good and 3 bad. She threw away the 'Good' stack while cleaning the house....

So no. :(

What was the temp outside when you ran this? And are you way above sea level or something?

I ran 13.6@105 with my 350Z with a cold air intake and exhaust... I think i had a 2.2 or 2.1 60' too..... The temp was 92 degrees out too
This was with Stock bridgestones.

sport touring 7AT, stock tires (has 13,000 mi on them). mods see below

Don't you guys require slips as proof?

I don't think my Challenger is gonna be ready for opening day tomorrow. Still got some new parts to get put on, so I may get my first passes in the Z tomorrow.

b1adesofcha0s 03-02-2012 10:40 AM

Awesome time cycy

The drag strip here opens up soon, but only on Sundays until April. I work on Sundays!

cycy89 03-02-2012 10:52 AM

Thanks!
I went to the first event of the year. We have Fast Friday every Friday night starting in April.

This puzzled me too until I did more reading. The weights vary depending on factory options and if you read through the uprev tune thread, you'll find that the factory ECM tune can vary greatly as well. So, I can easliy believe that the lucky factory combination of factory parts and a skilled driver CAN get his car into the 12s. Mine is a sport/touring 7AT and at Bradenton Fl, I was knocking down 13.3@104 (all stock) and I am kinda portly at 235 lbs. Since then, FI CBE, FI test pipes installed (very noticible improvement in power delivery) G3s on order and an appointment for uprev when stillens are installed. If I don't hit 12s, I'll either get the 4.08s or a membership to Jenny Craig......:icon14:

Luck and perfect weather had a lot to do with it IMO. I've only ever had one run in the 12's and that was my first one. Haven't gotten back into the 12's since then, even after installing a CBE and HFC.

Speedy 03-02-2012 03:35 PM

I'm hoping to hit 12s in mine. I've got some experience at the strip so we'll see what she'll do.

tranceformer 03-03-2012 08:50 AM

I definitely feels good to hit 12's in this car. I wanted to run a 12.9xx time stock but the winter ended and I really wanted to throw some mods on the car. Too bad I didn't powershift on my 13.133@105 and 13.127@105 runs, I probably could have pulled it off.

Alstann 03-03-2012 11:00 AM

Got my first track runs in last night at Palm Beach International Raceway.

Midnight Madness was crazy last night, had at least an hour wait between runs, haha.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...-50-04_324.jpg

This was my best run of the night. My number is on the left. For never having driven a manual car on the drag strip, let alone really ever launching this car, I'm ok with the time. I've got a lot of learning to do to get my times way down to where they're supposed to be. Launches are definitely much harder than I thought. :driving:

tranceformer 03-03-2012 01:00 PM

James that's about what I ran the first night I brought my Z to the track. I will add your time later when I am on my computer. Congrats.

Z eliminator 03-03-2012 06:02 PM

i will be at the track 2nd last week of april. With a fully built GTM 7AT and a new 3400 stall Pro Torque convereter. I asked them to build me a nasty bad one with all the tricks that they have. The hardist past will be getting the 7 AT full of fluid.
Hoping for 12.19's Will go the track a few times and then put the stage 2 SC on the car.

Z

One_Quick_Z 03-03-2012 07:50 PM

I will be hitting the track this spring after some new rubber is installed (AD08's) Should be in the 12's easily with current mods seeing how I hit a 12.9 with only test pipes and exhaust and stock everything else.......

DAN

Alstann 03-04-2012 08:40 PM

Thinking about going again soon in the coming weeks, to put down a better time. When I went for the first time, I had a full tank of gas, and all my tires were left at road pressure of 35~psi. My friend who ran his 300ZX TT dropped nearly 4/10's of a second by letting some pressure out. Little things I wanna experiment with.
