Here is what I’m going with for COTA in May: leaving the XP20’s up front and switching from XP12 to XP10 rear. I called Carbotech to order pads and talked to Mike Jr again. He was aware of my issue and had also recommended replacing/rebuilding my calipers. He said since it seemed that my issue was primarily back brakes centered that I probably had too much grip there and to go back to XP10. I would like to try that solution. My first day 2 weeks ago on COTA was great. Was able to late brake and looked like I was gaining 10 mph more on the long straight. I just had to be careful not to end up mating with the Vettes that blew past me on the straight areas.

My mechanic at Nissan said my calipers looked good. He can rebuild them but said he didn’t think they needed it.

I also need to get off my lazy butt and get my video uploaded of my thrill ride backwards into Turn 12.

Question

You down shifted. I didn't hear the rpm's pick up that much.

Hi Rusty, I watched/listened again a few times. Seems/sounds like my normal downshift from 5th to 4th. I had a previous spin the lap before, just not at speed, on Turn 15. I thought at the time maybe I did something stupid. But same scenario, letting off harder braking to get back on the throttle, the car spun to the left. No shifting there. Entered in 3rd and stayed in 3rd.

Question

I had to max out my sound to hear the down shifts when you spun. You caught 2 down shifts. Soon as you hit the second shift. The car started to come around. Was you heel and toeing or letting rev match do the reving?

Yup seems to me that your syncro rev matching was not on and you did not do throttle blip or heel toe as Rusty stated. My syncro rev match button was not on once at the track and I did not notice it and I pretty much had the same result when I down shifted from forth to third.

Rusty, Hotrodz, I think you guys are on to my real issue. I’m not going to mess with my brakes and make sure my syncro rev match is on. I will find out this weekend at COTA if I did the right thing. Thanks again for your wisdom and thanks for this great forum for sharing.

Rusty & Hotrodz, You guy’s nailed it. Ran all weekend at COTA with no change to XP20’s front XP12’s rear and sync rev engaged. Car was outstanding. Just can’t say the same about the driver. Thanks again for the input. Saved me changing out my pads.

I heel-toe overtop of my sync rev matching to keep the rpm consistent so I don't upset the backend. It saves me when I make a bobo. It is hard to be perfect all the time.
