Velox rear diffuser

When you say modified the cans, did you mean return them to "normal," since i believe yours were modified?

Since the cans are hidden with the diffuser now. You can take a BMF hammer to the cans for clearance.

I hope no one does this. I bet it has crossed a few minds.

I ran over an alligator (tire tread) on the interstate and dented one of my cans on the backside. Problem solved.

Drivers side muffler sat about a 1/2 in lower to clear fins on nismo differential cover. I cut the fin off and raised the muffler to match passenger side muffler.

Well...I went by the shop this morning and there is no way the diffuser is going to work on my Z. The muffler can hang way to low. So they will be up for sale in the near future.

Cut the diffuser to fit around the cans. Or straight pipe it.

Thanks for the offer. But I think I could make my own. Because of the cans and the diff cooler. I would have to design it around those 2 things. From the pictures I've seen on the diffuser. It mounts in front at the same spot as the diff cooler. I would have to have an opening in the center of the diffuser for the opening of the diff cooler.

Do yours hang that much lower than the normal TDX due to being 3"? Just wondering since secondnissan's clears minus the bracket and you say that yours won't fit at all.

I had not thought about that and I think you nailed it. Even with an extension as posted will not work for my exhaust as I had the same idea. The mufflers are to low and there is not enough space to get to the mounting point. I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get a custom one built.

well at least you have a good template for a custom piece?

i've still got a stubborn bolt to break loose so I can stat installing mine. though now that I know I'm gonna have to mod the brackets it's gnna be maybe next week when i can run to my buddies shop and harassing him into helping

I have a couple of ideas up my sleeve for having one built. The first has come with a hefty but fair price to do a custom build. Like many things if there is more than just me doing the purchase I'm sure the price would be less.

2017-09-22 01.53.04.jpgHere are some photos of the front bracket being narrowed. I used tin snips to cut the diffuser on the inside of the outside slots . I then drilled two sets of holes to replace the slots that were cut out. Holes are 3/4 of an inch from sides of tab. Holes are 1/4 diameter. For the bracket I used a dremel cutting wheel and cut to match diffuser width and holes. Filed down sharp edges and painted exposed metal with flat black spray paint. Hope to fit it tomorow. Debating whether I want to cut holes for the bottom of mufflers to protrude so I can tuck the diffuser up higher.
