Waiting on my OS Giken to arrive Not sure if it's going to be a 1.5 or a 2 way.

For OSG kind of money I think I would have made sure which one it was.

Picking up my Z tonight from the shop with my new Cusco RS 1.5 installed. Too bad the roads are wet so any real break in of the diff will have to wait.

I have the cusco 1.5 RS and it's savage on the street. low speed turns sound like the titanic sinking (I like a noisy car). When arriving to car meets, be prepared for the "one of your coils is blown" comments.

The diff completely changed the feel of the Z. My next track event is this saturday, so I can report back with my impressions, if you'd like.

I had a kaaz 1.5 prior to my wavetrac. For the street the wavetrac is way more suitable, its quiet, yet performs just as well as my kaaz lsd. The maintenance and the noisiness of the kaaz lsd is what made me switch, if my car was a pure track car, i would have kept it bc it performs just like its supposed to, just does not like going slow with its pops and clunks at slow turns. Oh and i ran 11.5 this weekend with my wavetrac =)

Yeah, Hojin stated that was the main reason he switched from a clutch type diff to the Wavetrac and he said the clutch type is slightly better under hard driving conditions but given that he drives the Z more than just to hot rod or go to the track he thinks it's better overall and way less maintenance to worry about.

Yep the driveability on the wavetrac is so good, if u guys dont mind the pops and clunks sound of clutch type lsd. Go for them. But if u cant stand that noise like me, ur gonna love the wavetrac. Performance is great, low maintenance, and when ur in a parking lot or gas station, people wont stare at u bc they think ur car is about to break down, (kaaz clutch type lsd) lol. My brother actually called me when he took my car out and said he didnt feel safe bc he thought something was wrong. But i told him dont worry, the car hates going slow so drive fast. Hahaha

First autox with the new diff is Sunday. You're definitely right about it being harsh on the street though.

Out of curiousity Crux, how many springs and what % lock did you go with on yours?

OS Giken discontinued products for AT. Wavetrac was my first choice, but they don't support AT either.

100% was recommended to me and what I am currently running. I don't remember how many springs were used. Depending how the event goes this weekend, I may opt to have it backed down a bit during the next service interval.

My first track event with the new differential was this past weekend at Summit Point. At first, I thought the differential was going to be too much. I thought I was going to be sideways for most of the course. I couldn't be more wrong.

The differential was predictable and I felt a level of control over the car I didn't think was possible. Instant power delivery, facilitated throttle steering, consistent power delivery over the hairiest of bumps/uneven asphalt, and it felt like it kept me going straight in threshold braking (occasionally it felt like the rear wanted to step out, but the slightest of counter-steering settled everything instantly). The cusco 1.5 way RS is a good choice if you're looking for a differential for track use

YMMV, but my setup includes: bridgestone RE-11's 265f and 305r, powertrix coils, solid engine mounts/urethane transmission mounts/ SPL solid diff bushings, and some aero modifications.
