Oh I know, but still. It's a step in the right direction though.

And for official news: Ferguson is retiring. Hopefully this will send Utd into a downward spiral. Unlikely, but I like to dream big.

Haboob 05-12-2013 04:00 AM

We had Birmingham.

Now City have Wigan.

Wigan are THE FA Cup champions. :vuvuzela:
:ughdance: :ugh2:

Now we have to face a Wigan team with more silverware than us in the past seven years. :shakes head:

Haboob 05-14-2013 03:16 PM

Things were looking good at 1-0. Then dire at 1-1 at HT. Wigan were strong at the beginning of the second half... then we shifted gears.

4-1 with 15' to go.

Ramsey scored - someone famous will be dead soon. :eekdance:

saber 05-14-2013 04:07 PM

We didn't shift gears. Wigan ran out of steam. I've never seen a defender as lazy as Scharner coming up from the clearance. Poldi could've camped next to Joel (the Wigan GK) and still been onside, by the looks of it. Ramsey's goal was ridiculous too, the GK gave the near post away. I don't care how shifty-eyed Aaron looked (I myself was screaming for him to cut back to Podolski for his hat trick), you DON'T give that much space to any EPL midfielder / forward!

Santi pulled the strings time and again. His should be getting three assists - corner, lashed ground cross, and a headed assist. He could get the fourth if you stretch the definition of "assist" - I think he gave the pass to Ramsey, who ambled into the net without a care in the world, and nobody else touched the ball - but I think a hat trick of assists will suffice quite nicely, thank you.

Worried Artekkers went straight to the dressing room. As the vice captain he would be one of the players you'd expect to stay out there, especially as it's the last home game of the season. I think he picked something up and may miss Newcastle.

Ramsey scored to account for the death of Angelia Jolie's breasts

Okay, well, maybe Wigan did get a bit tired, but Theo was going to run circles around their back four regardless.

Yes, the GK was bad. The way he came out for Theo's goal feet first just kind of stabbing at it was terrible, but then again - that's why they're relegated.

Though, it wasn't easy. Thought for sure Newcastle would end up putting one past us there. :eekdance:

Kos/Per seem to be doing well as of late.

And Walcott missing an open goal to seal it for sure.

Audacious little dribble to break free though. Walcott may surprise us yet. He's what, 24? One more season to prove he's developed into Henry v 2.0.

What a way to top off a magnificent season!

Haboob 05-26-2013 02:36 AM

Definitely disappointed, felt Bayern were diving everywhere, but either way it was a very entertaining game.

Dortmund's keeper made some amazing saves.

Lewandowski was MIA for the most part. :shakes head: No Götze hurt them I believe.

saber 05-26-2013 04:47 AM

^ huh?

That was a great game, Hummels off the line had me cheering like it was a goal. Lewandowski was brilliant for 25 minutes, then Bayern marked him out of the game. BVB ended up regretting not taking advantage of Bayern not being at the races in the 1st half, especially Schweinsteiger.

Robben came through in the end. Good goal, but Schmelzer will feel hard done by the deflection that messed up his clearance for the first one. I hope Dortmund can rebuild this summer to make up for Goetze and Lewandowski leaving.

MOTM: Manuel Neuer for me. Robben got the plaudits, but the GKs on both sides were MASSIVE.

Robben and Mandzukic were embellishing all over the place. I had to check the game I was watching and make sure it wasn't Serie A.

The Subotic clearance was simply brilliant too. Very heads up.

Either way, Bayern turned it on the second half and Robbens goal was pure class.

That sucks. I'm sort of a Seattle fan, since we don't have a team in Phoenix and I despise any team from LA.

Though, good on LA for signing Rogers and not make a big deal about it.

Arsenal

The spine of a new team could push Arsenal to honours: an experienced goalkeeper, a composed central defender, a ball-winning midfielder, a finisher up front all needed if the Gunners are to challenge beyond mere Champions League qualification.

Leaving? Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna, Andrei Arshavin, Lukasz Fabianski, Lukas Podolski <-- WTF!?

Incoming? Yaya Sanogo (confirmed), Nani, Clement Grenier, Rene Adler, Cesc Fabregas, Stevan Jovetic, Ashley Williams, Victor Wanyama, Luke Shaw, Simon Mignolet, Wayne Rooney
It's officially transfer season when ESPN publishes drivel such as this.

cow 06-03-2013 02:30 PM

I really dislike John Brewin. The point of that article, though, was just running through the rumors (in addition to the confirmed) as a "this was mooted."

Lazy, lazy journalism.
