I think he absolutely overvalues himself, or at least his agent talked him into it, considering his injury prone record, and the fact that he really has only one outstanding season under his belt.
The more time passes by, the more I think we will see 'last year of Cesc'-esque performances from RvP. I would be beside myself if we sold to ManShitty. |
I'm over the whole thing. I just don't want a guy who doesn't want to be there holding up the team & then leaving for free next season.
I don't *THINK* he'd not give his all if he were to stay around, but when one's head-- no matter how far back-- isn't fully there, it shows. Besides, he made his position pretty untenable. If he were to stay, anything he does not spectacularly will be met with some pretty sharp vitriol. |
Word on the strasse is that we signed Santi Cazorla, he's already confirmed it on his twitter, so the deal is done. I for one, am pretty excited about this. The guy can play anywhere, we're overencumbered on the wings, which has been his position at Malaga and the Spanish team, but with Jacky out, I have a feeling he'll be filling in the attacking midfield position. As far as RvP is concerned, he's dead to me, after showing his lack of club loyalty, he'll be just another Nasri to me. And that sucks to say that because I always respected him as a player and person.
Looks like our attacking force will be a force to be reckoned with this year, however, I wanted at least one defensive midfield signing and another defender, hoping that the Sahin loan goes through so i'll feel a bit better about the center of the pitch. |
The Cazorla twitter page was fake, apparently. Still, though, it seems something's close.

i do not buy into any information unless it is from the arsenal.com website.

Just picked up my new boots. Adidas Predator LZ's  They feel great. Kicked around for a very short time this afternoon in them and you can actually kinda feel the "lethal zones" work a little. Sure they wont make you play like Messi but the pass zone feels great as does the Drive and Sweet Spot zone. Didint notice too much with the first touch or dribble zones but it is all kinda gimicky when it boils down. They are a very light boot, def a mix between the Predator and the AdiZero I would say. When holding the F50s and the Predators at the store I couldnt tell a dif in weight. Here are a few pics.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...n/DSC_0912.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...n/DSC_0913.jpg Here is a little detail on some of the "zones" the top zone is the first touch, you can see the little slits in the rubber that are supposed to cushion when receiving the ball from the air. The wider ones off to the bottom left are part of the "drive zone" and have a kinda hatch pattern to them for added grip. Off to the far left side you can see some of the "sweet spot" zone which aids in putting spin on crosses and what not and off to the far right you can see a little of the "dribble zone", my least favorite. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...n/DSC_0921.jpg |
I bet those are awesome, but I was a bit disappointed when they went to a synthetic upper, i'm a traditional leather boot wearer myself and I hope that they eventually come out with a kangaroo leather version, then i'll be sold.
Just wanted to let my fellow Gooners know, I'm going to watch Arse play Cologne on Sunday, i'm so fvcking pumped its ridiculous. I'm going to stay after the match and try and have my kit signed by as many players as possible. I'm hoping to see Cazorla on the pitch and i'm looking forward to seeing how Poldi plays against his former club. Also curious if RvP will get some pitch time. Anywho, BE JEALOUS! |

A personal favorite:

Have you ever tried a synthetic boot?? I think if you did you may change your mind. The synthetic molds better as I said plus its thinner and lighter. Thinner = better feel on the ball and I feel a more powerful shot. |
WOOT!http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...81938394_n.jpg
I had the F50's, the most recent, but they gave my feet really bad blisters, seems like speed boots always do that for me. I have the Adipowers, which I wear for all my matches, the feel with those is amazing. I agree, synthetics have come along way, but theres just something to be said about the feel of a good pair of soft leather boots. I recently bought the new Puma King's just for practices, and those things are the Cadillacs of the football boot world. |
So it seems i'll be the first to see Santi in action, German media seems to think he'll get alot of match time on Sunday, which i'm looking forward to. I'm also looking to see how our new french boy does.
|
I expect Poldi, Cazorla, and Giroud all to get some good match time, Robin should get a little burn as well. Will be interesting to see how he plays. Cesc, when he was in his last year, tried his damnedest to give everything, but you could see he was distracted. Robin has dug himself a hole that nobody would be able to get out of...the team doesn't even give a sh*t about him right now, it seems.
This could get ugly, but if he can take some of the humble pie (and eat it too!) we'd have one hell of a utility striker waiting on the bench if things turn nasty injury-wise. |
Do we know if the match will be on TV here? GolTV has "Bundesliga Soccer" scheduled for around 11CST Sunday. Is that it?

As far as RvP goes, I agree, his situation needs to be solved ASAP. If he can publicly pledge his future to us and admit he was wrong and apologize, I think i'd be able to live with him wearing the shirt again. But the captaincy must go to someone else. Looks like Verms is next in line. I'll try to take as many pictures of the game as I can fellas. Fvck I love living in Germany. |
Also, new BS today about Song to Barcelona, where the fvck did that come from? Is this why we're in for Sahin?
|
ah, I was right, the match is going to be on Arsenalplayer, $3 is well worth it, just buy the day pass on that day.

Google's home page has a fun penalty shootout game today.

So, a few things i'll take from watching the match today:
Cazorla is the new orchestrator. There is no doubt in my mind that this guy is going to make us a better team, period. I didnt count how many touches he got today, but he was 100%, I shit you not, on his passes. He did not dispossess the ball once, he assisted from the corner, and set up Gibbs on Poldi's rocket shot. I'm completely sold on this guy. Next, Poldi, he looks like he's going to be one hell of an addition, his passing and finishing ability truly shone today, granted yes, this is a second division Bundesliga team, he was class out there today. It was really awesome how they paid tribute to him after the match in front of his home crowd, i'll add some pics of it here in a sec. Giroud for me today, didnt have the best game. He was shoved off the ball pretty easy and had a few heavy touches that allowed Cologne to counter, se ne pas bon. Now, 45 minutes isnt really enough to tell how great a player is going to be, but it was enough to see the quality in Poldi and Caz. I truly hope he adapts to life in England. Gervi was balls out today, and his goal was absolute class. He was making runs, playing great passes and buzzing about causing a nuisance wherever he could. Hope he keeps this form up. Lastly, RvP.... I dont really know what to say. Even the germans agreed with me today, he looks a man bereft of confidence, played like his heart wasnt in it today, dispossessing, playing bad passes, passing up scoring opportunities to play the ball off to an opposing player... It was really sad for me. I had built this guy into a hero in my own head, and to see what happened today, it really disappointed me. The Arsenal fans werent any help, they booed him every time he got a touch, and it pissed me off. He's still an Arsenal player, way to show your class Arsenal fans. Anywho, i'm going to post some pics here, enjoy. |
Yes, I also love Germany for its huge wieners.
lol awesome pix, man. Looks like an amazing time. |

As for RvP and the fans... can you blame them really? The guy has had one stellar season and one injury-free season since he's been in the starting XI. Then we make the signings of Giroud and Poldi, and he has the audacity to claim that we're not pursuing a trophy? I have enjoyed him, loved him playing for Arsenal, but then he just up and wants to quit? Sounds like Na$ri and Cashley to me. If he'd have said that the season before, or the past two or three seasons I would have agreed with him, but these have been some quality signings, with Arteta looking good, a GK, Kos playing very well, and Vermaelen stepping up... we have a real shot this season. From the sounds of it, Cazorla is going to make us all forget about Cesc. There's still rumors of Sahin as well. |

Who says we booed? It was reported someone 'booed', but it wasn't the majority of Arsenal fans. The club is classier than that. I hope that Gooners everywhere remember that, and continue to support anybody who pulls on the red and white this season. |
