Nice! One of my close friends moved to Seattle recently. I'm hoping to parlay that into Sounders tickets.

On a side note, I didn't realize the stadium was renamed to CentryLink. Our local arena was called CenturyTel Center, but now it's CenturyLink Center.

Other than the money he chunks at his team, Roman Abramovich is a horrible, short-sighted owner. I think AVB could have been great without the "old guard" constantly undermining him. The goal when AVB was hired was to revamp Chelsea; surely those higher up had to know there would be a mildly lean period while things were changing. Also, for all the money Abramovich has thrown at his team over the years, he barely gave AVB any financial backing to lure the kind of players key to his new coach's methods.

I'm not a Chelsea fan-- but I was excited to see what Andre Villas-Boas would do in the Premier League. It's a shame he got his chance at Chelsea.

phelan 03-05-2012 12:14 PM

Actually, to his credit, I think Roman was trying really hard to keep AVB. The Roman of last year wouldn't have batted an eye, but he tried to make AVB last, but losing to WBA was the final straw that broke the camel's back. The fragmentation in the team is ridiculous. If Roman were truly thinking it was a rebuilding year, he would have wiped out the old guard and given AVB lots and lots of cash to completely retool the club in his image.

should've thought of this BEFORE you loaned out arshavin!

phelan 03-06-2012 02:12 PM

Jon@AAMComp 03-06-2012 02:13 PM

phelan 03-06-2012 02:29 PM

PENALTY ARSENAL!

even if we do end up losing this game, i'm gonna cry tears of joy. THIS is the arsenal we've been waiting for, THIS is what we're capable of when we want. classy.

GET THE F*CK IN THERE ROBIN!!!

Red370 03-06-2012 02:30 PM

come on you gunners!!!

Red370 03-06-2012 02:34 PM

2 goals baby, 2 goals, RvP, SAVE US!

Red370 03-06-2012 02:34 PM

BTW, Ox is a fvcking stud tonight.

phelan 03-06-2012 02:36 PM

dude everybody could be a stud against AC Milan's left back . who the f*ck is that? joke defending all game long!

Jon@AAMComp 03-06-2012 03:04 PM

Left back has been such a problem position for Milan ever since Maldini retired. Normally Antonini plays at left back, but it looks like they have Mesbah in at LB. Milan might be able to use the experience of Zambrotta at LB, even though he's normally a centre half.

Careful though, if Milan score, Arsenal need 6 to get through...

Red370 03-06-2012 03:17 PM

why do you take off ox?????

hamstring.

robin will be regretting he tried that chip instead of sliding it home in the post.

Red370 03-06-2012 03:36 PM

referee just fvcked us. 3 minutes of stoppage time with the injuries, substitution and all the walking about? GTFO man.

Red370 03-06-2012 03:38 PM

6 minutes minimum.

phelan 03-06-2012 03:41 PM

the boys finally, just FINALLY, played for the shirt, and everything the cannon stands for. proud of the team, just wish they WOKE THE F*CK UP in milan.

we're in piss-poor shape for the league if walcott and the ox are really badly injured though.

Jon@AAMComp 03-06-2012 04:47 PM

Good effort from Arsenal, just seemed to run out of steam to rescue it late. Hopefully we can take some inspiration from Arsenal and play with some belief. Not sure if anyone really cared for the Benfica/Zenit result, but Benfica are through 4-3 on agg.

+1, Arsenal came out strong!....Milan looked terrible tonight, some of the most stressful 90 minutes i have endured as of recent with Milan.

Forza Milan!

forza370z 03-06-2012 09:52 PM

What a SHAME tonight!! Milan was like taking a vacation in the first half while gunners played their heart out. Not enough lessons from Turkey 2005 and Spain 2004??!! We should've been crushed out of the round of 16. Hats off to Arsenal. You guys earned my respect!

Red370 03-07-2012 02:19 AM

well with that out of the way, we can at least focus on overtaking spuds and finishing in the top 3.

bigsix 03-07-2012 07:52 AM

Should be a fun game to watch vs. Newcastle.

Van Persie's looking dangerous as always.

Milan came into the game ready to ride the 4-0 agg advantage. They didn't expect Arsenal to press they way the did, and they certainly didn't believe Arsenal could put 4 past them and keep a clean sheet. That strategy nearly sent them crashing out. And Milan DESPERATELY need a left back. It's been the weak link in the team all season. They need someone to fill the 'Maldini role'. Abysmal defending from the Italians last night, but credit to the Arsenal boys for punishing them for defensive errors.

The way they're playing now, I think that conclusion is entirely possible. I wonder if we can pull something together under Robbie Di Mateo to finish in the top 4 ahead of Spurs.

phelan 03-07-2012 04:37 PM

APOEL are through!

Red370 03-08-2012 04:03 AM

Big news in Germany today is that Koln have agreed terms with us, something like 11 million pounds for Poldi, i for one, welcome the switch. He'll be a Chamakh that can actually score, great at holding the ball up and can pop one from distance, should compliment RvP nicely.

bigsix 03-08-2012 05:03 AM

When will he come to London?

Red370 03-08-2012 07:10 AM

summer, hopefully he'll bring Gotze along with him.

bigsix 03-08-2012 08:52 AM

Who do you see definitely leaving after this season?

phelan 03-08-2012 11:43 AM

Benayoun won't stick around long term, unfortunately. Arshavin will probably leave.
Almunia is hopefully gone, taking with him Bendtner, Vela, Denilson, Park, Squillaci (we almost sold him already).

Either Flappyhandski or ManOHNOne may leave depending on how the GK situation turns out. Sir Chesney is the obvious number 1, but after that, who is it? For chrissakes, we saw Damian Martinez on the bench a few times lol

bigsix 03-08-2012 02:17 PM

Szczesny has been incredibly impressive since becoming starting GKeeper. Very strong, reads the pitch well, and leads the back four when he needs to.

Would Chamakh leave with Arshavin do u think?

phelan 03-08-2012 02:29 PM

Who would take him? I think he'll stay and Park will be relegated to cup fodder. Van Persie, Podolski, Chamakh.

Although I'd even take Bendy right now over Chamakh.

bigsix 03-09-2012 04:41 AM

Yeah, you're right. No one has expressed any interest in Chamakh, as far as I know.

Red370 03-11-2012 01:19 PM

Gunner's midfield tandem next year???

http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...61639073_n.jpg

cow 03-11-2012 11:37 PM

I refuse to allow myself to get hyped or event wonder till I see the player holding the shirt.

I'd quite like Goatse, though. Maybe he could wear "0."
