Yea, I noticed the Blur on the bridge too. I think I had to do with the light fog.

His ISO was 100, I just don't think it was real dark yet when the Pic was taken. Over all nice job, but like LunaZ said Adjust the blacks and the shadows.

Keep on snaping

Where did you find all that info on his pic?
The reason I suggested turning down the ISO is because when I looked at the sky, it looks really grainy and noisy like a high ISO shot. Or is that something else I'm seeing?

Some of the graininess may be from smugmug resizing. It was ISO 100, but on an older 350D camera, which is noisier than some.

That's a cool shot -- actually, I like them both. I also dig the retro hair dryer itself.

I went back to the Workhouse Arts Center today (formerly the Lorton Prison) to take some shots with the 5.0.

I actually like this one because the car is glowing a bit.

I am having a lot of fun with my 60D. Big thanks to HKYStormFront for recommending it to me at ZDayZ.

Hopefully I can get some friends to let me take shots of their cars so I can keep things fresh and interesting with different subject matter.

m4a1mustang 05-28-2012 10:28 PM

Also, decided from here on out not to leave my tripod at home when I go shoot. I could have used it today to help frame shots and keep them constant as I play with exposures. Also I don't have a very steady hand... must be from all the crack red bull I used to smoke drink.

m4a1mustang 05-28-2012 11:29 PM

Here are some from when I went back at sunset and the light wasn't quite as harsh.

your license plate's crooked

m4a1mustang 05-29-2012 06:19 AM

Thanks dude.

Yeah, I really need to fix that. It wasn't bothering me until yesterday!

Cmike2780 05-29-2012 08:38 AM

:( I took some long exposure shots this weekend and noticed a lot of dust. It looks like its on the sensor and not the lens. Anyone here ever clean the sensor themselves? Should I try doing it myself or just bring it in to a camera shop?

....oh and nice work Steve.

LunaZ 05-29-2012 08:52 AM

I've never cleaned a sensor myself. I'm skerred.
Camera shop? Do they still exist? They all seem to have gone online or killed by the big box stores.
Closest "physical" camera shop to me is B&H in NYC!

m4a1mustang 05-29-2012 09:03 AM

I would take it to a Camera shop myself. I don't want to risk screwing anything up.

We used to have a lot of Penn Camera shops around here including one right by my house. They were always very helpful and the pricing was decent. Higher than online but you did get great service. Unfortunately they went bankrupt, were bought out by another store, and closed a lot of locations. Now the closest one to me is in Tysons Corner, so it's a little drive from Fairfax. :|

Cameta Camera in Amityville is near me, but I'm not sure if they clean sensors. Manhattan isn't that far either, but I'd rather not go there unless I have to. I'm wondering if I can drop it off at Nikon's Melville HQ.

Look at Tamron lenses...they are all made in Japan using the same suppliers, could save yourself some bucks, if it's only for play you don't really need pro grade..,just a suggestion. I have a couple of tamron that I use, a lot. The Canon zooms are pricey, my husband buys them for me for christmas occasionally. Lucky me!

Speaking of long exposure shots, I ordered a neutral density filter so I can lengthen exposures in daylight. I want to take some shots at Great Falls and would like to try with that.

I am thinking about also grabbing a monopod for when I don't want to run around with a tripod but want some stability. I don't have a very stable hand. Too much crack, masturbation, red bull... I don't know. :icon17:

The neutral denisty filter is very useful. I use mine when I want to mess around with depth of field in bright light. I have a Manfrotto monopod with a ball head that I use when I am shooting with one of my big lenses -- it helps a great deal for stability. I do not have the stamina I once had, largely due to the same reasons you stated.

:icon17:...what is this neutral density filter you speak of? My only technique for lengthening exposure during the day is to up the f-stop, lessening my control over depth.
