Bring some more contrast into the pic in post. Adjust the blacks and the shadows. |

The reason I suggested turning down the ISO is because when I looked at the sky, it looks really grainy and noisy like a high ISO shot. Or is that something else I'm seeing? |

Antique hood dryer in my friend's salon, Nsalo, in Wilmington, NC

That's a cool shot -- actually, I like them both. I also dig the retro hair dryer itself.

I went back to the Workhouse Arts Center today (formerly the Lorton Prison) to take some shots with the 5.0.

Big thanks to HKYStormFront for recommending it to me at ZDayZ. Hopefully I can get some friends to let me take shots of their cars so I can keep things fresh and interesting with different subject matter. |
Also, decided from here on out not to leave my tripod at home when I go shoot. I could have used it today to help frame shots and keep them constant as I play with exposures. Also I don't have a very steady hand... must be from all the crack red bull I used to smoke drink.

Here are some from when I went back at sunset and the light wasn't quite as harsh.

nice shots Steve
your license plate's crooked |
Thanks dude.
Yeah, I really need to fix that. It wasn't bothering me until yesterday! |
:( I took some long exposure shots this weekend and noticed a lot of dust. It looks like its on the sensor and not the lens. Anyone here ever clean the sensor themselves? Should I try doing it myself or just bring it in to a camera shop?
....oh and nice work Steve. |
I've never cleaned a sensor myself. I'm skerred.
Camera shop? Do they still exist? They all seem to have gone online or killed by the big box stores. Closest "physical" camera shop to me is B&H in NYC! |
I would take it to a Camera shop myself. I don't want to risk screwing anything up.
We used to have a lot of Penn Camera shops around here including one right by my house. They were always very helpful and the pricing was decent. Higher than online but you did get great service. Unfortunately they went bankrupt, were bought out by another store, and closed a lot of locations. Now the closest one to me is in Tysons Corner, so it's a little drive from Fairfax. :| |

Speaking of long exposure shots, I ordered a neutral density filter so I can lengthen exposures in daylight. I want to take some shots at Great Falls and would like to try with that.
I am thinking about also grabbing a monopod for when I don't want to run around with a tripod but want some stability. I don't have a very stable hand. Too much crack, masturbation, red bull... I don't know. :icon17: |

I've got to read it myself. I read another one last night and saved the link but I don't have it with me. Just found this one and it looks like it will be helpful! |
