I shot this with my Iphone 4s. IMO for an Iphone and no editing, this picture didn't turn out to bad.

There you go, fellas...
Throw away your fancy DSLR's, say no to strobes and Adobe who?
All you need is an iPhone.
And Picnik.
Or Instagram.
And some duckface.

m4a1mustang 05-24-2012 08:54 PM

love me some duckface!!!

m4a1mustang 05-24-2012 08:56 PM

Bought this for my fiancee on the way home. Took this picture with my new 60D and 430EX II. Literally the first time I used it. Pretty low light sitch. Bounced the flash off a wall to my right. I am like a kid in a candy store right now.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-L...0/s1000/mk.jpg

Gonna read the manuals some and play more.

:ugh2: I definitely wasn't trying to say that. I was just trying to share a shot I took with the IPhone camera. I don't claim to be a photographer, and never will. Just trying to share some Z love.

P.S.- this shot wasn't taken with instagram or anything like that. Just the regular camera app.

That is actually a nice shot.

m4a1mustang 05-24-2012 08:57 PM

No worries dude. This is just the DSLR thread, though.

That's pretty good.
DOF is nice, bounce is good, creating a really neutral lighting scene with minimal shadows.

m4a1mustang 05-24-2012 09:04 PM

Thanks guys. :)

I recommend this book: Amazon.com: David Busch's Canon EOS 60D Guide to Digital SLR Photography (9781435459380): David D. Busch: Books

He explains all the camera's controls in plain English, and in addition to that he explains scenarios for when and why to use certain settings. I got his book for the 7D and feel that this book will bring you up to speed very quickly!

I got the book by that author for the 7D. It is amazingly useful.

I took a noob shot of the moon! Used a Canon EF 70-300. Patrick said something about a teleconvertor... hmmm.

 Is that vinyl still on the passenger side of your car? If so snap a pic before removing it. My buddy would like a sample of his work. I have the two smaller, tighter shots you posted but would like a full side-on shot.

m4a1mustang 05-25-2012 10:09 PM

Will any of these work?

Nice moon shot -- those can be tricky. Also, the Sigma you reference gets great reviews.

Mr. Onzedge, you need to start resizing these pics for us so we can see them w/o having to side scroll. Hard to look at a pic that doesnt all fit on my screen:bowrofl:

Since I got my 60D my Tamrac Evolution 8 backpack is running very low on space.

I am thinking seriously about a Pellican case like this:

Pelican 1500 Case

m4a1mustang 05-26-2012 08:19 AM

Pelican makes nice cases. I got one for my fiancee's pistol when she travels.

Alchemy 05-26-2012 08:22 AM

I have a DaKine photo backpack. After the two new lenses I recently purchased its maxed out. If I buy anything else its never gonna fit in there.
