It was a cool little car, and the restoration job was done very well. It sold this past weekend in Monterey, though I don't know for how much...

May I ask what aperture is this at?

Totally agree with you! Sadly I didn't get a strobe of that area :(

redstarcg 08-19-2015 09:49 PM

Fixed it!
Found a shot with some life in it. Can be seen a lot better in a high res because of the Carbon fiber.

Back in July I went up to VIR to shoot some pictures for Nissan of my good friend Matt's first track day in the GTR Nismo. They ended up dropping the story so I'm posting my pics now. What an incredible machine! The numbers on paper don't really tell the whole story. The GTR Nismo is simply insane on a road course. There's no understeer at all like most of the other R35's, the downforce can really be felt at speed where the car feels more and more stable. I thoroughly enjoyed my hot laps riding shotgun in "The One"... at least until I got motion sick! The heat was brutal that day so I didn't get a whole lot of shots. Most people had had enough time on track just after lunch so there wasn't much to shoot. Anyway, here's what I got.

Here's a link to the full album:

This Grandprix had huge single 70mm turbo, it was making over 500FWHP on e85! The plate matches the times too.

Water lilies are always nice to look at. So peaceful.

jpkirk 09-06-2015 01:27 PM

This is not a DSLR shot. From my Kindle HD Fire. I was stunned. It's an unsolicited add for Famous Dave's BBQ.

I did fix it a little in PS

I was reading on CNET last week about using glass balls, bottles, crystal prisms to refract the light in the shots. Now i need to go find some stuff because that last shot is amazing!

Ya my buddy has done a lot of shots shooting through a glass ball so I wanted to give it a try, picked one up for eh 16-18$ off amazon, tossed on the 70-200mm, took some fines to get it sharp but pretty happy with the results

Any focus stacking required for the ball shot or does the 70-200 just work that well?

jpkirk 09-10-2015 10:27 AM

Oooo ... focus stacking.

So what tools do you use to automate the blending in post.

I have actually thrown in the towel on HDR and gone single exposure. This was shot with the 70-200mm, 10stop ND filter, mild post processing in lightroom to remove any higlight/shadow clipping, boost the blacks/whites
