You know what i do is, i usually lean over to the passenger side, and catch the door so it cant slam up against the car.. That kinda sh1t annoys the hell outta me though.

I'm going to chime in. I modded one set for a member here, and he loved it. Labor-wise, it was a pain!
The aluminum pieces are terrible. The clear coat is fragile and easily develops spider web cracks. The plate is as fragile as tin foil. It is easy to blemish and difficult to straighten out once bent. It is affixed to the kick plate with automotive grade double sided tape. So one either needs to heat things up or use a flat butter knife to separate the pieces without flexing the aluminum parts so much. The LED portion is plexiglass, and it is sealed with RTV. The LEDs are surface mount - possibly 0805 size. The painful part of this mod is separating the aluminum piece and scrubbing off the old double sided tape and silicone.

Yeah so I'll buy a 2nd pair if someone wants to change them to red for me. I'll even give you a prepaid UPS shipping label to send them back to me.

Order on its way to your guy. For people who are wondering, there's no guarantee you'll end up with 'unmarked' kick plates. I'm doing this because I need to replace them anyway.
He's offering a REALLY cheap price to do it but you pay shipping and materials. PM for more details.
