Hmmm.... I thought the trucks were built here in Arlington tx? Options are added in grand prairie. Maybe the equinox cuv is built in Mexico? But the Silverado, escapade Tahoe, avalanche etc. are built in tx.

Nope, parts of the 1500/Silverado are made south of the Rio Grande

I don't care if they make them in Mexico or Antarctica at least their paint on their roof doesn't peel off within 5000 miles or have their seats rattle. Nissan should just quit making trucks.

I thought we were talking about Chevys that you can't even drive off the lot? Crap paint... or in this case... a completely non-operational truck. Man... that sure is a tough one. Typically I buy my vehicles to drive, not to look at. Especially in the case of a TRUCK. Trucks are built to get dinged and abused because they're TRUCKS. You run over things and carry things around.

BTW - the Frontier has been at the top of its class for a long time, and this year it beats the Tacoma is towing and off-roading capability. You know... truck things. It is a solid truck. While Nissan paint sucks, let's not over-exaggerate here. Every manufacturer has defective products from time to time. I would say in the grand scheme of things, Nissan has done well, especially with the Frontier. (The Titan is a different story that includes getting effed over by Dodge, but that is a separate story).

OP's situation is the second I've heard happening with Silverados in the past year. Major mechanical failures within the first 500 miles.

GM had 4 assembly plants building the trucks (GMT 900). The most productive and highest quality one was in Canada, they closed this plant to add the production to Fort Wayne, which at the time was their worst producing plant. The other plants are Flint, and Silao (Mexico).

The Silao plant manufactures Escalade ESV/EXT, Avalanche, Suburban, and Yukon XL. The Arlington plant builds similar vehicles as Silao.

Edit, Silao now builds some Silverado's starting with model year 2014 http://www.mlive.com/business/mid-mi...of_2014_s.html
