i'm sure the engineers at toyota thought about that and engineered the car so that the 2jz wont fit and therefore any hopes of having the car actually be fast will be ruined.

Oh no. To some on this site engine swaps are too difficult to do.

^ I'm guessing you are being sarcastic. I am honestly looking forward to this as a replacement for my Mazda3 daily driver (not as a replacement for the Z).

Given how fun my Mazda3 is to throw around I imagine the *86 to be even more fun -- it will be lighter, more powerful by about 50 hp with a better center of gravity and weight distribution all in a decent looking coupe body.

If it is light + turbo'd I'll seriously consider a trade, tbh.

No I really can't wait haha! It's just exciting to see a new contender. I used to have a Scion and I loved it.

If Toyota can pull this FT-86 model off with Scion, then Scion will be a name to be recognize and not just another Chick's car brand.

Let the Scion "rice" begin:

edit: Some people are saying that it is the exact same wing as the WRX STI, but whatever the case is, it looks ridiculous and is unnecessary on a 200hp car.

It's more for aesthetics... not necessarily for racing purposes. Otherwise they'd put a GT style wing. But honestly any car without some sort of wing looks unfinished imo. Even the Z has a little lip spoiler on the sport package which although I'm not a fan of lip spoilers is better than nothing at all.

Yeah, and the aesthetics of it blow ***. The spoiler they had on the Toyota version at the unveiling was much more tasteful and not as Fast & Furious over the top as this.

It's not rice if it's got a Subaru power plant, which it does. Subaru makes their rear spoiler functional. Are you saying that cars with over 200hp only deserve a spoiler wing?
