All electro-chemical batteries are adversely affected by temperature extremes - the colder it gets, the less power they put out and the slower they charge. Some EVs can warm the batteries to provide more power during cold temperatures.

If it gets cold enough to freeze the battery, you need to be off the roads and holed up somewhere warm.
