Then you've undoubtedly seen this. Not a concrete release from Toyota, but pretty solid info from a BMW leak. If you're waiting for something official from Toyota, you'll have to wait until the car is in showrooms. |
was kinda pumped to see the supra at geneva.................yet we get the race car concept.

Oh yeah, definitely seen it. Toyota must have hired someone from the CIA or other intelligence agency to orchestrate this psyops pre-marketing campaign because they definitely have writing about it to get all this buzz. Good thing that I am OK with delayed gratification :) Hopefully they are setting us up by setting different expectations and surprising us with an electric supercharged, Toyota produced inline 6 (it's a nice fantasy). Regardless I would be accepting of a BMW inline 6 as I was very impressed with the one in the M240i...that thing liked to get and keep going! Match that with the low center of gravity and hopefully sub-3000lb weight, I am definitely a Toyota buyer! |
Yeah, the turbo six is the best thing BMW has going for them right now. Given that there's no way in hell Toyota's accountants will let them develop another indestructible motor like the 2JZ, this is better than anything they have brought to the table lately.

You guys are smoking crack. No Supra for you. IF it does come out, it will be like Honda's NSX, all the hype for years and when it finally makes it everyone was saying whatever. Supra's were not that big of a deal in the 90's. The Nissan 300zxtt was. Everybody talked about that car, not the Supra.

While it would take the 300ZX TT, the MKIV would have its a55 handed to it by an NSX or other true supercar of the era. Not saying it was a bad car - mainly because it was a great car. Will the new one live up to the legacy? Depends on what auto "journalist" you care to read when it eventually hits the ground. Most of them don't know sh!t from putty anyway, so I guess somebody here will just have to buy one and tell us all! ;) |

Not knocking what Toyota did with that car, but pumping up a version of a street car does not really make it a "supercar" in my opinion. That was the terminology I was objecting to. Since one man's supercar is another's sports car, it's all good. |

I hope you are able to score one, and that it's everything you want it to be. In other words, I hope that Toyota does this one right. There's always room for one more good sports car in the world. Might even force other marques to up their game (cough, cough, Nissan, cough, cough). |

When they were in showrooms, they were cool but not the world-beaters people think they were. It took the aftermarket a few years to catch up and make them the Supra we think of today. Plus, they were expensive as hell new. They did get the hardcore domestic guys to start considering imports, though. |

Stopped in here to see if this car is still vaporware. Not disappointed.
Toyota is getting as bad as Nissan at product launches. |
Geneva is half over. And all they did is reveal a racing CONCEPT.
And BMW does not seem to have presented its Teutonic brother there either. I guess that a proper launch is still aways away. IF EVER. That's the game with highly anticipated new cars. You wait and wait. The media falls for the hype and tries to whip up excitement (because "media" is all about drama anymore). Then watch dealers try to put premiums on the first ones to hit lots. For a Toyota? No thank you. I'd really suggest going out and buying any of the the AVAILABLE, proven, good, fun cars already on the market today. New or used. By the time that's worn out, there might be a Supra on the lot for you. |
I was at the Geneva auto show on the last day. I saw the new race clad Supra. Nothing awe inspiring, IMHO. I really liked the looks of the Alfa Romeo 4C (in silver) and Alpine A110 (in blue) though.

Of course, your local fire department will be happy about that... https://www.topgear.com/sites/defaul...5/alp2_116.jpg |
I don't know if any car is 100% fire proof but the reviews on the Alpine A110 have been quite spectacular. Some say it is even better than the new Porsche 718.

Especially since the new Porsche 718 engine sounds like absolute crap. Even aftermarket exhausts cannot fix it much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The stock 370Z exhaust isn't particularly harmonious for an NA-6 sports car - but fortunately can be improved with some modification. Speaking of which, I have to get on that for my wife's car this year. What's the recommended catback exhaust for "robust, mildly annoyingly loud with deep and exciting tone"? (sounds like the description on a wine bottle) |

The recommended CBE is the one from FAST INTENTIONS. I love mine.

I also like the green. Hopefully there will be this and a new Z to cross-shop in a few years when I'm ready to change cars!
