3300 is slightly heavy but if they did alfa giulia type engineering with the chassis. This may feels super fast?

On paper stats for this may not be the key.
BMW has had a hard time making a Z4 that can out class a mazda rx or a Z in terms of handling. Thats why Toyota is in the mix.
And toyota just didnt want to build a new powetful engine for their sub premium sports entry. Maybe together they can find the formula? So far the Supra Aero looks sick and may be a contributor to supercar handling... Lets see? Toyota is underwhelming but this may be the turnaround?

the real question for me is will it look as good as the prototypes, can you make that engine thrown down big power with a few mods, and price.

If they use the same turbo six they use in all the other BMWs it will respond very well to mods. The big question is if you'll be able to reflash the ecu. You can with BMW, not so much with Toyota.

Kind of depends on the weight & distribution.

Give it a chance. Pretty sure it won't be a better driver's car than my 4C, and that is my track setup. Not a big fan of extra tire width without just cause. More unsprung mass, and more rubber to heat up and keep warm.

Chuck33079 02-14-2018 12:23 PM

Plus, it's a hell of a lot easier to change wheels than to fix other possible shortcomings.

the 4C is great except that they made it just butt ugly (personal opinion). thankfully Alfa made the Giulia Quadrifoglio. that is just a beautiful car especially for a 4 door lol

also, i a guy who runs 265/305 on his Z :tiphat: i like my rubber.

Daaaamn! If the car looks like that, I want one :yum:

FPenvy 02-16-2018 09:29 AM

if it looks like that i'll buy one............then instantly do a 2JZ swap.

stupid BMW engine will just blow up and cost more than the car itself to replace lol

Sorry, doesn't do it for me.
Looks like somebody went wild with a LEGO set.

Having seen the FT1 concept, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

It'll have to perform twice as good, to make me want to walk up to it with a blindfold on.

To be clear, I think that above the belt-line is a knock-off of the 4C (which I love).

But it doesn't work with the lower half. Especially that beak that looks like a Studebaker mated with an F488

The 86 redesign should be interesting. But i think it will remain N/A cuz theyll have a weak entry level 4 banger Supra.

But i think design wise and modability will improve on the 86 Better auto and a more powerful n/a engine. Possibly from hybridization maybe?

I love the 4c, but the supra will come in a usable size.

Sighs, im at a crossroads. The z is being sold ... I’m not entirely on board yet for a GTR , no new z in sight. Could this be the answer ?

if this is the actual production model being shown march 3rd i would say you'll see it in dealer this fall.

i mean it is currently labeled a "2019" which means it will be in showrooms prior to the end of 2018.

i would assume it's much easier/cheaper to maintain/mod vs that N55 bimmer engine.

also we all know what a 2JZ can put down.

Lol no you wouldn't, that was a total fan boy comment. No one in their right mind would pay for that car, and then pony up another insane amount of cash to swap in a whole new drivetrain. You would be in it way more than the car is worth and at that point you could have easily purchased an original TT/V160 MK4 with a bunch of power.

It is just the Gazoo Racing prototype, but I love what I am seeing when imagining it without all the extra body parts.

really hard to tell whats going on since they have a full wide body and graphics on it. Might as well be the concept FT1 again.

Still eager to see the production version though.

That's completely crap then, if this new supra is overpriced with only 340hp and no manual offered Toyota can keep their hyped up sports car then. At least GM is still offering a manual with 7speeds even with their 600hp z06.

As long as it is a DCT then I am in. I enjoyed the quick and manual shifting of the BMW M240i's automatic transmission, so I will look forward to the F1 style shifting of DCT. Nowadays I see a manual transmission a tantamount to having a crank starter instead of an electric one. If you want performance and longevity, you wan a DCT.

Only 340HP? :roflpuke2:

Quicksilvers 03-07-2018 04:04 AM

If Toyota does produce a new body style Toyota Supra it will not be priced so the average person can afford it which is a good thing and production numbers will be limited also. Hopefully Toyota can have a turbo powerplant in the Toyota Supra.

That's not in question. It's been confirmed that it's using a BMW turbo inline 6. That's been confirmed for months, if not years.

I have seen no confirmed production specs whatsoever. Every morning the first thing I do is a search on "toyota supra". Please provide this information because I have been dying to see it.
