its had that tag since the reveal last year. this is not new.

My bad then. I simply don't recall seeing that during the reveal. Old age I guess.

The doors don't open normally, the trunk won't open, they only have one proto etc. Honestly it makes me sad Nissan is floundering so hard right now they can't even get the doors to open normally gotta use a button on the pillar right now. Jeesh Nissan get your crap together and when are going to learn anything else about this car are they really going to drive one single prototype around for years before the release it or something? Took them this long to just to throw the vr30 motor in a rectangular version of the 370z. At this rate it will probably take another half a decade to pick the colors and decide to put it on the showroom floor. https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/th...rs-coffee.172/

Since its a prototype, they're not going to have a fully functioning and working panels, especially since the point of proto/concept is to show what could be if there were no regulations etc required.

Look at this image of the LEAKED pre-production Z; You can see the indentation of the door handle, the DOT required sidemarkers, the covered Z badge on rear tailgate as well as the 3/4 as well as the wheels/calipers.

https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/at...opy-1-jpg.609/

Also this video, go to 0:17s and you'll see the guy open the door using the door handle. This is another pre-production vehicle that was recorded at the same time the silver one above was.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTy-...annel=400ZCLUB

Nissan isn't slacking perse, they're holding off until they can release something worth releasing. Just think as how they revealed the Proto. There was going to be no new Z and then out of nowhere, they announced the A to Z plan. My guess is they'l announce something May 28 (Since they announced A to Z LY on that day). Just watch the both videos here and relax. We're all impatiently waiting on the big details to be validated; Engine, transmission, weight, brakes, pricing, colors & options.

Everyone in these videos said how much better it looks in person. Not sure where you get your info lol. And everything operates as normal in the leaked production cars.

Its easy to see, at least for me and my personal friends, the C&C video clearly shows it looks better in movement and moving light than it does in many of the still shots. The grill detail actually shows and looks much better than the solid black monolith we saw at the unveiling. It even shows that the rear wheel area has real hips and projection. Previous pics look flat.

I'm liking it much better.

Still prefer 1 solid color over the black roof and rear diffuser, and I pretty much hate those wheels. But I know those things will be or can be changed.

Here's to hoping the end of May brings more details.

Well the two production Z cars that were leaked had varying options. One had the two-tone "invisible" black roof line with silver body and the other was a grey body colored with matching roof line. And the wheels on both were a gun metal color.

takemorepills 05-04-2021 07:56 PM

Just to add my 2 cents to the naming confusion,
a while back a person who supposedly knows some insider info (and also correctly predicted the 9AT, amongst other things) said that in USA the car will simply be called "Nissan Z". The test mules that were delivered to Arizona for testing had their badges taped over, but in one shot it can be clearly seen that under the tape is a very large "Z" emblem on the rear light panel on the passenger side, and it is obviously just a "Z" and doesn't have a 300 or 400 or Fairlady anywhere near it.. The hatch lid did not have any emblems like the proto's "Fairlday Z", it is totally devoid of emblems in that area.

Yep. Hopefully the soon coming up dates tell us about the solid vs 2 tone thing. Will it be an outright option, or related to packages? And will it be limited to certain colors or across the board? I much prefer solid 1 color.

I'm not so optimistic about wheel colors being a choice. I'm not a fan of dark gun metal or black, but with current trends, I'm completely expecting silver won't be a stock option. I guess we'll see.

Here's to hoping the stock wheels at least fix the stance problem that plagued the 350 and 370 that required spacers or aftermarket wheels.

Check out the piece about the Z in today's Jalopnik.

WAY over the average replies to a topic on this site.
The Z is dead?
Not by the responses given.

not that i'm aware of.

i would have to go out on a limb, and based on the history/relationship with nissan, we may get the proto there.

i was told by a friend at a dealership 5/23 is possibly the day they will begin taking orders.

If someone here has time, can you post a link to the newer 400Z forum where all this discussion is going and will eventually all be? I know I'm being lazy but I just need a simple way to find it right now for light evening reading. Thanks.

Wonder what they are going to do with their website name when they realize "400Z" isn't the name of the new Z....

Unfortunately I think the same thing is also going to come up with people talking about the car. Like....

"What kind of car you have?"

"I've got a Nissan Z!"

"Cool, which one?"

"............?"

Mazda may have gone MX-5, but people still say Miata.

Led Zeppelin's 4th album is called Led Zeppelin. But nearly everyone calls it Zeppelin IV.

In other words, I think a lot of people will refer to it as the 400 Z whether Nissan calls it that or not.

I'll just call it whatever it's name is. If it's just "Z", I may refer to it as "300Z Twin Turbo".

I will always reject "400Z" (unless Nissan actually calls it this) as it has no place in the traditional naming definition of every single Z ever made.

At least half the time I just say Z already when I refer to the 370, and you can always say the year.

Why are people getting so uptight about a name. Call it the Nissan POS and I'll still buy it. I don't care what it's called. I care what it costs, how it makes me feel and how it drives.

Don’t worry, it’s still a Nissan, at some point in everyone’s ownership experience, it’ll be called a Nissan POS. :driving:

Still want another one though. Z cars get into your blood.

Going off topic for a minute on the GTR side of things, with all the supply chain issues (chip shortage, manufacturing, etc), is Nissan allowing dealerships to put in an order for a GTR with specific color & options? Not sure you know but was looking at the US inventory and it is basically a few blacks, one red, a silver, and one pearl white.

It was $32K CDN last year for a new Base model. Was there a big discount at some point during the lifecycle?

Here's a little more info. From this, it looks like they might be splitting the grill now. The other part I noticed is, it's in desperate need of spacers or rims with better offset.

The grille has always been split. They intentionally hide the split by maintaining the grille pattern over the split.
