Going in tomorrow at 8AM to have mine fixed finally.

I just call Premier Nissan and schedule for the replacement next Friday. They just look up the VIN and acknowlege this recall right away. No recall letter needed.

Same for my June build 2010. Apparently we have a different version. Still going to fail, so pull the fuse or get the harness.

And if the recall has been complied with I am good or still pull it?

My guess is that you already have the Rev D ESCL/SLU. If you can get your head under the dash, you should be able to see the label.

OK I will check. Thanks.

The only thing I saw under there that had numbers on it was something that said "throw away in case of free fall". Other than that I don't know what I am looking for. How does one know if they have an early 2010 model or late?

DWS44 03-26-2013 08:58 PM

Got my notice on Friday, took it in today and they had the ESCL on-hand and took care of it. Mine had RevC originally. One thing I did notice...the new one sounds quite different than the old one. Hard to explain the difference, but the tone is a bit quieter.

As far as I can tell (I didn't wait to get a letter), it's for Revs A-C (2009-2010). But, yeah, your dealer can tell you for sure.

I had mine replaced today. Once they got it into the shop, it was only a 25 minute job.

I have a 2010 with Rev C with a manufacture date of 6/10 and it does not fall under this service campaign. A friend with a 3/10 manufacture date and a Rev C did fall under the campaign.

Just an FYI...

ayrton88 03-30-2013 04:48 PM

Mine is also a 6/10 build with a Rev C and not part of the recall. At least I think mine says C...the letters are so small and my close vision sucks. I'm not even sure which line to look at but I think one ends with a C.

Steering Lock Replaced

2009 Z with an original Rev B. Replaced under recall with a Rev E yesterday. Let's hope it holds up and it definately sounds different as others have mentioned

SouthArk370Z 04-03-2013 12:01 PM

Dealer installed a Rev D (dated Dec 11 or Nov 12, 2012) last week and I pulled the fuse a few minutes ago. It was kinda nice hearing the whirr for a few days. :)

When did you put in for it? They keep instructing me to go to the NissanAssist.com site and fill out the reimbursement form. Unfortunately for me the SLU for the Z has not been posted (they just posted it for the Altimas and Maximas).

:shakes head:

I called Nissan North America. I already had a case number since I had been complaining since it first went bad. I called them about 4 weeks ago when I first heard about the recall. They told me to fax my receipt and registration. I did that the next day, and they said my check would go out the following week. Well I never got it so i called, they said I needed to take it to a dealership since I didn't get it replaced at a dealership. I told them to look at the FN receipt, it says Nissan, so she said she had to call the dealership. Ends up the part they replaced it with just a month ago isn't the latest and greatest version, so I took it back to the dealership the next day to get the newest slu. After that I got my check 2 weeks later.

I dropped mine off at the local dealer last night with recall notice in hand. Was supposed to pick it up tonight after work with the new ESCL installed. Just received a call from said dealer and was told that Nissan did not want them to replace it because this is not the dealer where the car was purchased from. WTF??? I said that it does not matter where the car was purchased, you are an authorized Nissan dealer, replace the recalled part. The service guy totally agreed with me, and oh, besides, they had NO parts in stock. Another WTF??? I thought that this was the reason to SCHEDULE an appointment so they would have a replacement part available.

So, I get to take the car back home until the issue is resolved. This is my first experience with Nissan Service, and I am less than impressed. Hopefully, we can get this taken care of soon.

Sorry, I just needed to vent.
