*Voluntary Service Campaign ** Steering Lock Fix**

Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign on certain Model Year 2009-10 GT-R and 370Z vehicles to replace the Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) unit.

P3208 Campaign Announcement

Campaign Bulletin NTB13-014

This will start in Mid-March, people should receive mailers about this program around end of march.

Steering Locks availability will be limited, so expect to wait a little while.

Oh...and don't shoot the messenger.

~ Lou

Link(s)? I searched the Web using Google and DuckDuckGo for "Nissan NTB13-014" and "Nissan NTB 13-014" and came up with nada. :(

Edit: Oh, yeah. Thanks for posting this. :tiphat:

It is brand new so probably is only hitting the dealerships right now and everyone else next week probably.

GaleForce 03-08-2013 09:28 AM

I wonder how this will work for vehicles imported from the U.S.

Good to see them do something about it finally.

m4a1mustang 03-08-2013 09:30 AM

It's a little insulting at this point. WAY too late.

FuszNissan 03-08-2013 09:31 AM

It will be official in Mid-March. Oh and your dealers probably won't know anything about it. So give it a little time.

Agreed. I'm glad they are finally doing what is right, but I won't forget how I was treated when my slu failed

Sub'd. This is a big deal!

SouthArk370Z 03-08-2013 10:49 AM

Does anyone know whether this will be a replacement or deletion? Being that all previous revs of the SLU have failed, IMNSHO, a replacement is not a fix.

R0bDC 03-08-2013 12:19 PM

Can I have my money back?

It's worth asking 'em. They might say no, but they'll never say yes if you don't ask. It's possible they will contact you, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Edit: I'd wait until after the official announcement of the Voluntary Service Campaign before contacting Nissan.

Nissan told me a few weeks ago if it was recalled I would get a full refund for what I paid for the new slu

Nismo_Q 03-08-2013 01:38 PM

FINALLY!!!

MY SLU just failed the other day and I was calling to NIssan to make complaint when they informed me just 5 minutes ago that there is a recall for the dreaded SLU!!!! I can confirmed that the campaign is P3208 and already received a case number. I ordered by SLU online yesterday and will be reimbursed for it. Dealer will handle installation!

It's a celebration b1tches!

DEpointfive0 03-08-2013 01:38 PM

Lol, maybe, but I want Nissan to lose money, and once my warranty is about to end again, I'll pull the fuse

(I even changed my signature)

Yes they were pretty awesome.

FuszNissan 03-08-2013 04:21 PM

Glad to hear Nissan is set up to handle this so soon.

DCspartan09 03-08-2013 05:09 PM

If you just call your dealer and give them the VIN, they'll confirm a recall is posted against your vehicle. Looks like the info is already in their system, which actually means they've been researching the affected VIN's for a little while now (unless my complaining and case ID's resulted in my VIN being tagged early).

Thank you for this. I've sent my dealer an email requesting he order the parts so when I get home, (I'm in China) I can have the work done!

Thanks again!! Love this forum.

Nismo_Q 03-08-2013 09:03 PM

Towed to dealer and had my car back within a few hours, nismo back and running.

Replacement part used was D48700-JF00D.

murphman 03-09-2013 09:51 AM

having mine worked on right now before parts dry up. Hate having to bring a car in and get told we will need to order those part, o by the way the parts are out of stock and it might be a couple weeks.

SouthArk370Z 03-09-2013 06:30 PM

I would like to applaud the efforts of those who have been hammering Nissan about this. I feel certain I speak for many others when I says "Thanks, y'all!". :tiphat:

I'm glad to see this got stickied. Waiting with bated breath for an official announcement from Nissan.

Can/will someone correct the spelling in the title of this thread? Camping -> Campaign.

By fix it you mean have them replace a faulty steering lock with another faulty lock? No thanks, I'll leave my lock disengaged and not worry about dealing with the dealershit.

Maybe they have fixed the problem with the latest version of the SLU, but I have serious doubts. If the "fix" is just replacing the SLU, I'll put my fuse back in, get the latest and greatest SLU, and then pull the fuse again.

I'm not going to pretend to grok the system, but it looks to me like the BCM should be reflashed to ignore the SLU. Then the SLU can be removed completely.
