Default What should I pay for '10 Touring/Nav/Sport/6MT?

I am toying with the idea of buying a 370Z. There is one at a dealer near me that is silver with black interior, sport package, 6-speed manual, navigation - exactly what I would want. It also have splash guards and floor mats which I don't care about, but it is.

Invoice on a 2011 with those options is $39,001 (including destination). They have it listed for $37,200. MSRP is $42,001 (for a 2011 model, don't know much less it was in 2010).

Are the 2010 and 2011 models pretty much the same?

Even if so, there will be a much bigger gap in resale in the future, let's say in 5 years if I go to sell it, a 2011 will be worth an easy $2k over a 2010 (I'd guess). So what would a good price be?

Also, according to Edmunds.com, there is a $2,000 manufacturer-to-dealer rebate on the 2010 370Z. If so, then with 2% holdback ($848 on a $42,440 MSRP car), they would be making $2848 on a sale even at invoice.

How low can they go? I haven't seen any discussion of the $2000 manufacturer-to-dealer rebate on here... but it seems a 2010 should be able to be had for $2k less than a 2011, yeah?

Invoice is ~$36.5k...the invoice thread is here: 2009 / 2010 Nissan 370z invoice Price

That being said, since its a 2010 model, I would say that $34.5k before TTL is what you should aim for. Good Luck!

Thanks Nick!

I have been reading this forum all weekend and it seems like people are saying $500-1000 below invoice for a 2011, so that would be $38,000-$38,500 for the '11. If I could get the '10 for $34.5k, I think I would do it - that would be $3,500-4k off the '11 price.

It seems the only difference is the backup camera, which i would really like, but wouldn't be worth the price difference to an '11. Although it makes the choice to go for an '11 easy if the dealer doesn't want to talk turkey

I see you have the sport package with your car - how do you like the Synchro rev? This would be a daily driver for me, my car is a stick now - I am sort of tempted to get the automatic, but that's $1,500 or so more than the stick, whereas the sport package is only something like $1,000 over the cost of an auto... which seems like a deal with the other stuff you get.

All of the packages are good deals as long as you don't plan on replacing all the items with aftermarket anyway.

Yeah, the sport package is definitely worth it. The SynchroRev Match feature is really cool and I keep it on all the time, but as far as Manual vs. Automatic that is your decision. I would test drive both and make a decision based on that.

I got my '10 Nismo for ~36k +TTL. Just watch out for the last guy you sit down with he will try and sell you a bunch of crap you don't really need. I am in the process now of getting refunded the extra "Warranty" crap they sold me.

You might have already seen these but check these links out if not.

It's still up in the air whether I will be getting a Z... I hope it works out, but if not, I won't be heartbroken.

The dealer is a couple hours drive away. It's a leftover 2010 model, so right off the bat its' worth $2k less than a 2011 ($2k is about the depreciation difference between model years, plus the '11 comes with the backup camera), and 2011's are going for $1k below invoice.

I am happy to pay $3k off invoice - which is less than forum dealers were selling 2010's for earlier this year. This car has been sitting around for at *least* a year (since I imagine the last 2010's were produced around May/June 2010, right?).

I think the dealer realizes they need to make a solid deal on this car to move it, and I am a willing buyer if they come through on that solid deal.

The dealer said they would go with my price, but wanted me to drive out there to check out my trade. It's too easy to just lowball me on the trade and tell me they are selling the Z to me for thousands under invoice... so I am holding out for $3k off invoice with all dealer fees included (no BS documentation fees, advertising fees, etc, etc). Obviously taxes, title, tag is separate to that, but I think that is a fair price for a leftover 2010 that's been sitting around for a year.

If they don't want to sell it for that, no worries - I am happy to order a gunmetal gray 2012 model with an auto, or pick up any one of numerous 2011's for $1k below invoice.

I shall keep y'all posted.

I believe it could be less than that - for some reason MY and CY for the 370Z started a lot closer together, though I am not sure when the 2010s started shipping.

Edit: Looks like the first 2010s arrived late December, and the first 2011 in mid-late November for CA and a few weeks later in the rest of the country.

Obviously there will be a big range on the build dates of the 2010 model, but looking at my VIN, mine was the 27th 2010 off the line. It was built in October 2009 and was on the lot in January. This means that it could have been sitting around for up to 1.5 years.

I think that somewhere around 3k below invoice on a 2010 is appropriate. Hopefully they are willing to deal.

So I have tentatively purchased the car. We worked out the price, I put a deposit down, and I go to sign the papers and pick it up Friday. I am not going to get excited over it because I always stay unemotional about these things... you never know what can happen between the time the deal is agreed and you sign on the line. I will let myself get happy on Friday on the way back from the dealer.

I ended up paying $3204 below invoice for the car. It's a 2010 Touring model with the sport package and navigation, plus a few other little things (splash guards, etc).

I think that is a very fair deal. The dealer wanted to sell it, and I was ready to buy... so we made it happen.

I will post pics when I get it, hopefull Friday or Saturday.

Thanks for the 411 guys!
