Gnarf: Another victim of great marketing. I don't know what they drive in Jersey but the brokers and doctors who drive the GT3's around in LA I doubt ever see the track. Oh, and do you really think all the buyers of the Nismo will fork over $40k for a car they will only pull out to take to the track?? Dude, you're on drugs. The majority of people buy Ferraris and Porsche to be seen in them on Freeways and race stoplight to stoplight, not to abuse in front of a few gearheads on a track.

06.17.2009 , Franklin, Tennessee
Nissan Announces Pricing on 2009 NISMO 370Z™ Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) announced pricing for the all-new 2009 Nissan NISMO 370Z™, which goes on sale today at Nissan retailers nationwide. The new, second-generation NISMO Z® continues the tradition of the original, offering unique performance and design attributes that true sports car enthusiasts are looking for – including a functional aerodynamic body design, 18 additional horsepower and a special sport-tuned suspension. The 2009 Nissan NISMO 370Z™, which is equipped with a 350-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 and close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with SynchroRev Match, has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price* (MSRP) of US $39,130. Only three accessories are available on this well equipped vehicle – NISMO carpeted floor mats, illuminated kick plates and a carpeted trunk mat. “The new NISMO Z® is a tuner and Z® enthusiast’s dream – straight from the factory,” said Pat Steiner, Director, Specialty Vehicles, Nissan Division, NNA. “With its dramatic exterior, custom interior, sport-tuned performance and under $40,000 price, this new NISMO Z® is possibly the best ‘bang-for-the-buck’ sports car available today.” About the 2009 NISMO 370Z™ The NISMO 370Z™ was developed by Nissan’s Specialty Vehicles Group in conjunction with Autech Japan, Nissan’s longstanding conversion partner. The NISMO Z®’s standard 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL) develops 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque (versus the standard 370Z Coupe’s 332 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque), thanks in part to an exclusive free flow dual exhaust system, muffler tuning and an optimized Engine Control Module. As expected of a true performance machine, the NISMO 370Z™ is offered with only one transmission – a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with standard SynchroRev Match-the world’s first synchronized downshift rev matching manual transmission introduced earlier this year on 370Z Coupe (which simulates perfectly matched heel-toe-like downshifting). The NISMO 370Z™ also features a refined 4-wheel independent suspension, a reinforced strut tower brace for enhanced body rigidity and a pair of performance body dampers to manage road-input vibrations and help contribute to the NISMO 370Z™’s stability and performance feel. The NISMO-tuned suspension includes specially tuned springs, shock absorbers and stabilizer bars. Wider, unique 5-spoke 19-inch RAYS forged aluminum-alloy wheels are mounted with Yokohama ADVAN Sport Y-rated high-performance tires. Nissan Sport Brakes and a Viscous Limited-Slip Differential are also standard on the NISMO 370Z™. Along with its standout performance, the new NISMO Z® stands out from the crowd with its dramatic performance-oriented exterior and interior styling. The functional and fully integrated aerodynamic body modifications include an extended nose with a canard design at each corner for improved downforce and a fully integrated chin spoiler. Special side sills and a unique rear fascia help manage airflow under the vehicle, while the functional rear spoiler also increases downforce. The interior includes NISMO logo seats with black and red fabric and red stitching, a NISMO tachometer, a smooth leather-wrapped steering wheel with red parallel stitching, a smooth leather-wrapped shift knob and aluminum trimmed pedals. A serialized plaque of authenticity is also matched to each NISMO Z®, identifying its unique serial and model year designation. 2009 Nissan NISMO 370Z Pricing Description MSRP* 370Z Coupe NISMO – 3.7 Liter V6 6 M/T $39,130 Port Installed Accessories MSRP* NISMO Carpeted Floor Mats $115 Illuminated Kick Plates $200 Carpeted Trunk Mat $95

Are you seriously going to start flaming on a 370Z forum when you're driving an overglorified convertible? The NISMO is meant to be a high performance street car; yet it can be easily tracked... just an oil cooler, maybe a better diff (lol VLSDs suck for any kind of driving, better get that clutch type!). Plus that majority are the people that really just don't "enjoy" cars. You can never feel the true potential of a car by street racing, which is horrible and irresponsible in the first place, regardless of your driving skill or how empty the road is. Also remember that Ferrari's, Porsche's, those European sports cars are made for luxury speed; remember the driving rules in Europe are much different; they can go pretty damn fast all over the place too. When you take a stock Ferrari, more than likely it's not a capable track car at all; all that weight added on from the luxury, etc. Think the standard F430 compared to the F430 Scuderia. Huge difference. That being said, the NISMO is not truly a pure track car, but it can handle the track a lot better than any stock 370Z could, regardless of trim or options. If I had bought a NISMO 350Z (in Red, at the Evanston Autobarn Nissan in Chicago, 30,500?), I'd likely drive that thing on the street a vast majority of the time. Yet since I know it's a NISMO, it's fully capable of a good track run. So I'd probably take it out once in a while. And hell, you don't know the income of the forum members? Some people here have just too many cars in my opinion... and as far as I'm concerned, they could be crashing them into brick walls for fun. (but that's only because I'm jealous <AHEMfrostAHEM>)

Well, it's cool that it's $39,000. Not cool that it's a "track car" that will only do a couple laps before it over heats on its home turf. The idea of throwing down $780 for an oil cooler right out of the box is ridiculous. I'll pop in here from time to time and see what the status is on a factory oil cooler at some point.

Uhhhh, I'm not talking about wear items like brakes and tires, I'm talking about important things like an engine. My GTI has 63,000 miles on it, 20+ track days, maxed out stock turbo, and the temp gauge has never risen above 190 on the hottest, humidest of August days after a 40 minute session at Watkins Glen. Simply stated, I would expect a Nissan track car to hold up a better than my "grocery getter" GTI. Further more, I've seen plenty of bone stock cars at the track run balls to the wall for 2 days with absolutely no issues, including some wacko in a Prius. You sir, have no idea what you're talking about. But, this is the internet, so...

I don't? I have more track days in the Z alone than you do in the GTI, and I am not even including days from other cars. I think it had 47K when I traded it in. As speed goes up, wear and tear item goes up also. It's just the law of physics. I don't think people are overheating their cars, they are overheating their oil (well some I think are just people panicing). Big difference there. Lastly, a stock car would not be able to handle 20 days without changing pads and brake fluids, it simply doesn't happen. Heck, even 20 minutes at max speed is pushing it, especially on a car with around 300HP. I think the water temp gauge on most new cars are dummy gauges, you are going to read 190 unless you absolutely overheat it. |

This is not a statement by a person who has spent any time on the track. Unless of course all you do is wheel to wheel racing in some high end spec series, and have forgotten what most people refer to as "track days." A large majority of people at the track are newbies, there for their first time, and they haul *** all day long without issue. Of course I roll with an Audi club, so our cars are perhaps predisposed to being hustled around in haste. To say a stock car won't last 5 laps without issue is just ignorant. But I'm sure you are a track god none the less. See ya at LimeRock.

I bought mine to be a track car and a daily driver. It does very well in both instances.

wanna take a look at your previous 5 posts? 1. Why no color Yellow for the Nismo or Roadster? 2. Uh, all rear spoilers/wings are basically 'stick-ons' unless you want that fat rear to be even bigger than it is. 3. Why do people make these ridiculous comparisons and statements? You mean if you basically can't afford a brand new Nismo then your dream car is really very used Porsche that will probably be more... 4. You want to buy it and pay much more because of the body kit?? The other 'exclusive stuff' as you call it, or the suspension upgrades is what makes it better than the regular Z and why the price is... 5. Doesn't anyone get it? It's a CAR for the STREETS not for the track! That's all just marketing! How many of these do you think will even see a track?? They throw a body kit on it and make some... your opinions do matter in this forum...but almost all of your posts have a negative tone towards the 370z...if you dont like the car... if you want to make a serious argument..use factual evidence instead of stereotypical LA driver observations...let's keep the personal name calling to the 11-13 year olds... edit: to sum it up...remember when i said that there are GT3s on the street yet many still do track the cars...itll be a similar instance to the Nismo...In my area..I see very high end cars..I've seen Veyrons, Scuderias, LP640s, ZR-1s, GT-Rs...yet I have only seen 1 Nismo 350z..is it because they dont sell...or maybe the drivers use it as a track car..who knows...nevertheless on the nismo 370z adding an oil cooler is $780..and a nice LSD is around $1500..a small price to pay for a 40k car...I was putting down your comment of "It's a CAR for the STREETS not for the track!" ... just cuz it isnt true..thanks and have fun at 6speedonline... Wonder what Invoice will be for it? and if any dealer would order one @ invoice or close to invoice for a no hassle sale of the car or if they're told MSRP and no less??
That's the only way I'd consider picking one up. |
