The $695 destination fee IS NOT arbitrary. It costs money to ship a car via cargo ship from Japan to Long Beach, CA. It's not like a stork with a sling around its beak carrying your 370 is dropping it off one at a time from dealership to dealership. And if a new car is built here in the U.S., Canada or Mexico, it takes an 18-wheeler to deliver it. You know, an 18-wheeler requires fuel, goes through wear and tear, maintenance and costs money to subcontract a company to deliver vehicles for Nissan.
Dealerships always fill your tank up when you purchase a new car i.e. one that's never been RS'd as it's called, "registration of sale." Things don't happen out of thin air. Last edited by edeeZee; 05-21-2009 at 01:37 PM. Reason: mistake |

Typically no, auto loans don't have a pre-payment penalty, but you should really read the fine print to be sure.
BTW, I reworked the document a little, so here's yet another version offered with respect and appreciation for the original: |

Hey guys first time posting and first time looking into the Z's. The wife has given me the green light on a Z and Im looking at the 370Z Nismo. I know the just hit the States last month and are probably hard to get a hold of, but I'm willing to wait. The question that I'm looking for is, does anyone know the Invoice and MSRP on the Nismo S-tune performance package?
Thanks for the help!! Wes |

Some cars have sat on lots long enough to have been transported for $695. If the destination fee went up to $750 tomorrow, the dealers wouldn't go outside and change stickers on all the cars they had on their lot.

Z
The Nismo Z is priced just under $40,000, and is a limited production model, which means you'll probably have to wait until the 2010 is out before you find a dealer willing to discount the Nismo. Most dealerships get 1 or 2 per year.
My dealership is selling the 370z for $1000.00 over cost which I think is fair. Nissan will probably put out a $500.00 rebate around December, usually the Z series doesn't have much more offered from the factory. If you work for a qualifying partner of Nissan, "Union Pacific Railroad", for example, you can qualify for a V.P.P. deal which is Invoice minus 2% (which Nissan reimburses the dealership for). My dealership has 2 New 2008 Automatic Grand Touring hard tops, marked down to $31,000.00, blue and silver - If anyone is interested. |

I visited the dealer tonight and having read this thread I felt so much more prepared and confident about what I was doing. I definitely had leverage. I didn't take a print out with me, but I was dropping the invoice knowledge like crazy. I scared the finance guy off because he felt me out by saying the 370 with sport pkg. was $40000. I laughed at him and he left me with the salesman. It definitely sucks having to prove myself walking in because I'm a female. Cut out a lot of B.S. fast. Still shopping around. Thanks for this thread!
