1) turn ignition switch on and wait exactly 3 seconds (make sure your not pressing the brake or throttle)
2) within 5 seconds of step 1, depress the accelerator pedal and then release it 5 times
3) exactly 7 seconds after step 2, depress the accelerator pedal and hold it for 10 seconds until the CEL light starts blinking.
4) you can now let the accelerator pedal go and make note of the code that the CEL is giving you.
5)to reset the CEL, repeat steps 1-4, when you complete step 4, wait 10 seconds, then depress the accelerator pedal for 10 seconds again.
6)release the accelerator pedal, turn off the car, then fully turn on the car (make the engine run).

I did it this morning, thought it was a joke to make me look like an idiot but it worked, so if you just want the code, thats the way to do it, minus step 5 and 6.
I checked if this is an April's fools joke since it didn't work when I tried it must be doing something wrong. anyone else made this work? and if it gives cel codes, then it's a waste of money to buy handheld code readers? thanks
