i would get the auto as well.

sidenote what the hell is the gearing in the vette?! he finished the pass in what i could hear was only 3rd gear? or pardon my non-knowledge of the vette tranny, but maybe started in 2nd if possible?

i heard shift to 2nd and shift to 3rd then crossed the line.

I'm not sure actually... I know in the C6 Z06 can hit 60mph in 1st gear, lol. Whats disappointing though is the Vette doesn't come with a DCT... even the new 80k+ Z06 still has the standard slush box. You would think for that kind of money they would put something more advanced in there.

technically a single clutch isnt the devil vs a DCT if it's done right.

in all honesty i love the 7AT in the Z. its responsive and quick to where it feels real unlike the AT in a camaro. using that as reference since i recently drove one and played with the AT stuff a bit. also drove my friends C6 AT vetter and it's awful. i never have driven the C7 AT yet so i can not comment on if it's good or bad.

buttttttt yes a DCT is awesome i know. then look at something like the aventador. i believe its a double plate single clutch and just as fast as most DCTs but still kicks you in the back of the head lettign you know you just grabbed another gear lol

It's that the point of an opinion though? It's what someone "feels" is better... not something rooted in pure fact, though some facts might be a factor in my opinion. If you wanna compare a Z with a C7 using pure logic and statistics, then compare engineering charts and performance numbers. However just because a car performs better or worst than another, doesn't mean someone will like or hate it.

In my opinion, Car X is better than Car Y. In raw fact, Car Y is better than Car X. Doesn't change my opinion that Car X is better. I don't hate Car X because it's slower than Car Y. I like Car X because blah, blah, blah.

That's what an opinion is.

If you want a faster car with a more powerful engine, get the C7. Pure and simple. Numbers don't lie. If you want to get the car that I like, get the Z. Pure and simple. My opinion is the Z is a better car than the C7. Even if facts say the C7 is better on paper and the road, I still like the Z more. That's why it's an opinion.

This is reminding me of that time when a friend and I were arguing what was hotter: sexy American girls or sexy Japanese girls. Of course someone with an "asian persuasion" perogative would have their opinion trump the other... but you'd still get on your knees and thank God for being able to spend a night with either.

C7... Z... both are damn sexy fast cars. You can't lose for owning either. Just pick whatever you can afford and/or think is better (be it looks, speed, sound, options, etc).

If I were to ever get a Vette, It would have to be something a little rare... Z06, or even ZR1. The C7 Z06 is only supposed to be around 78K. Way out of my price range but maybe in a few years.
Certainly agree here. Sold a crammed, full bolt on C6 Z06 before I bought the Nismo. It was my third +500rwhp car in a row, and I just got a little tired of having power I really didn't use on the street. They are great cars, super bang for the buck, but I just wanted something you don't see everyday. I've said it here before. I think the 370 handles damn near as well, and the stock power levels, while never gonna beat even a stock C5 or newer, are great for the street.

I get what you are saying... and for the most part agree. I never once stated that a C7 is "better" than a 370z, just trying to make a point that it is way faster, handles and brakes better than a Z. I have no idea the motive behind OP's reasoning for possibly trading in his Z... But if its strictly from a performance standpoint... then come on people, lets be realistic. The Vette is far superior than a Z performance wise... I tried making that statement and it seemed like a lot of defensive people had to jump in with bias opinions. "Vettes aren't reliable, they are everywhere, old men drive them, add HFCs plus a tune and your Z will be just as fast"... blah blah. I just think some people need to tone down the pride a little... its ok to admit the Z isn't the greatest sports car ever made. Its ALWAYS the same when somebody starts a thread asking about other cars, or is thinking about trading in their car for something else... People get so butt hurt and have to completely bash whatever car is mentioned. Cough cough Mustang*.

Of course being faster doesn't make a vehicle better than another... I would have never bought my 370 if that was the case, or my 350.

Reading his posts, it seems that he's already set on getting the C7 and wants to be convinced that keeping the Z is better.

He claims to loves the Z and C7 equally in terms of appearance and appeal. So if performance is the determinator... get the C7. If spending is the determinator... stay with the Z. If it's all about bragging rights... well... it depends on the audience.

I'm in agreement with you... these "Car X versus Car Y" topics are ultimately silly "this is better than that" bait.

Me? Who cares what OTHER people think of your ride? It's YOUR ride. More importantly: it's YOUR money. Do what YOU want.

If peer pressure determines what car you buy: see whatever the latest car magazines are gushing over as the hottest thing. Just don't be disappointed if 6 to 12 months later, the magazines are praising something entirely different. Cars are like computers... the next best thing is always around the corner, and what you buy today will be old news tomorrow.

He is set on a C7, but like FPenvy mentioned, he didn't even know what a C7 was, lol. I was gonna say maybe to hold out till the Z35 comes out... if it ever does.
