I ended up doing my oil change today and still waiting on my GTHaus axle back exhaust to be delivered. I probably should clean it too...

Nice! First oil change? That first one is sort of a special moment (or perhaps I have no life ....). :D

A comment equally at home on a kink forum as on a car forum. ;)

In other words, jealous. :p

Even at stock height I have to go in the ally from the far side, and unfortunately it is gravel so it gets dirty/dusty every single time even idling the whole way. Still better than parking on the street though.

Tried getting an alignment today but no dice. So it's a garage queen until Tuesday morning :(

Guess I'll tear into the interior, make a box for my subs and throw the rear speakers in while its out of commission.

Getting close to 3k on the clock so my first oil change isn't far off. Will wait until the oil cooler gets here and have to dump the black stuff anyways. Already have couple jugs of Mobil 1 on standby!

Finishing up my Stillen SC install. With luck I should be able to fire the beast up TOMORROW. Shooting for 450rwhp. The tune will happen next Saturday at Z1. :driving:

What's the optimal oil temp for a Z? Even on the drive through 30+ weather to Alberta, I didn't get much more than a bit higher than 92ish.

A week ago I hit a touch over 120c in a short hop down Deerfoot. Granted it was 33c outside but it was enough to give me pause.

Though I drove to red deer a couple days ago and never hit more than about 92. Though it was only 22c out.

In any case without knowing what kind of summer we are going to have I'd rather be prepared and have the cooler than regret it and have to order one. Plus I'd like the car to see at least some track time this year when it's done.

Am I making a mistake and wasting money? Possibly, but I couldn't say with certainty either way.

Murica confused by your numbers.

92 isn't bad. 90-110is my operating temps. Altho in the mid low 20's I hit 120-130on the dragon. Will tell you how I was driving lol

In stop n go I'll go over 110 mid summer in toronto. Your car will pull timing over 100 and you will really notice after 110

Just got back from cars and coffee. Saw my first ford GT. Gorgeous cars. Sorta sad that we saw more ferraris than Z's though. Whole thing is on snapchat (Mike-GZ) if anyone wants to see. I'll upload some photos and videos later from my dslr.

Installed the GT-R start button and OEM fender repeaters. No tools at all and it only took about 5 minutes to do, including digging them out of the packages. Will post a couple pics when I get home from work tonight... Naturally.

Sorry neighbo(u)r! Haha.

It dawned on me that if you're going mostly highway speeds, airflow's probably enough to keep the oil in its sweet spot temp. It's the pesky low speed, high rate of acceleration, that probably makes the cooler necessary. :D

Better safe than sorry (i.e., oil that stinks worse than a grease dumpster out back of a KFC).

These, which most likely yours already has. The base model just comes with black "Z" dummy ones. Luckily, they come fully wired though, so it was a simple one minute job... Literally!

I know it's nothing super major as far as mods are concerned, but I like it. I can't imagine why Nissan couldn't spend the extra couple of dollars to install these on the base model. Kind of dumb if you ask me, but whatever. It was still a cheap, easy mod.

Does it not come with that start-stop switch? I guess someone must've switched out mine.

Anyway, I changed my transmission and differential fluid today (Redline MT85 and 75W90). Now the shifts are much smoother. :)

They do, but a frosted white one that glows orange when powered up.

Good, I was wondering if they came with the harness already installed or not. Figured as much. Thanks! :)

Ben370 06-18-2016 07:28 PM

Then I bought one with the GTR switch already installed.

I loved those blinking Z emblems when I had a 240Z. Are those difficult to install?

Not at all. Like I said earlier, it literally took me no more than a minute to install both of them, and I wasn't even rushing. Super super easy to swap out.

Pull the fender liner, squeeze the clips and slide it out?

No... Like I said, it takes a minute to swap out both units. As in 1 minute. You just barely slide the repeater to one side and pull out. That's it.

Looks like front control arms & rear adjustable camber arms needed.
You should have some adjustment on your camber arm eccentric's,,,adjust them to shorten the arm/ this will in turn help your tire stand more upright & will also give you some more toe.
Looking at your specs; should be able to at least get closer than that:with stock parts.
No camber/caster adjustment on front w/stock stuff...only toe adjustment....which should be about 1/2 as much as the rear.

Cleaned inside of wheels really good & re-balanced tires...tried not to get over-anal with the balancing/// goal was to have weights all in one spot (on inner & outer of wheel) http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...8148b2cf5c.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...43dc6427cb.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...7326443034.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...232d69c49f.jpg

Depends on what you're looking for out of the alignment. To me (coming from 10 years of Miata ownership), that looks like a pretty decent alignment. I think I'd be pretty happy with those settings on this car.

My last Miata, I had a pretty aggressive alignment... -2.4* front, -2.8* rear, as much caster as I could get, and minimal toe, I think about 0.05* front and rear IIRC. Crisp, fast turn-in, excellent handling and very even tread wear. And that was on fully adjustable coil overs.

Where did you get the alignment done? Dealership?
