Ran out of fuckin gas today. I haven't done that since I was 16 :wtf2:

The worst was I passed a gas station because my buddy was running late to another project, and I thought my gas situation was good enough to get him back to his truck which was right next to a gas station where I could subsequently fill up. But I guess I was a little heavy on the throttle over the past few miles because I ran out on the frontage road after exiting the highway about 0.5 miles away from his truck. I would not be surprised if it was an instance of fuel starve on the exit that killed it, but that is still no excuse :shakes head:

barncobob 03-09-2016 05:14 PM

no offense, but ive never figured out how one runs out of gas:icon14:

I run it down to empty and fill up 18+ gal on a regular basis. I've done this for over 50K miles worth of fill ups. It was bound to happen eventually ;)

No but seriously ... I was just being stupid and not paying close enough attention to my throttle input over the last three days (~50 miles). I was off by about 1.3 miles on my guesstimate of how much mileage I could get out of the remaining gas. And I feel like a moron.

Thankfully my buddy was nice enough and just laughed at me for a brief period of time. I should have let him drive :rofl2:

i've had the car for nearly 3 years now ... clutch peddle started making a creaking noise ... took out the helper spring and two awesome things happened.
1) no more creak
2) clutch feels WAY better. why did i wait so long?

then, my cruise control stopped working. turns out when you take the helper spring out you need to adjust the clutch sensors, what a PITA to get to, contorting under the dash is not a ton of fun.

Hmmm, I have been running without a clutch helper spring for over two years with no issues...I hope I didn't just jinx myself

lucky you, saved yourself some real joy!
easy enough fix, the sensor/button wasn't being fully engaged so cruise thought the clutch was still in. no big deal

went to get my emissions done. I hate dropping my car off to someone, anyone. anyways, when they pulled it in I could see from the showroom window that workers were gathering around my car bending down. the guy gets out of my car gets down on his knees like he's praying then gets back in and drives out. the manager comes back in and says, "sorry we can't do it. the ramp is too big that it would scrape. we know that nismos scrape but I guess regular z's too." bummer. but I said thanks for not scraping and doing damage. so they recommend 2 others about a half hour away that have a different set up for low cars like these. then when I get back in I notice some grease marks on the door that I went home to remove. I hate others driving my car!

barncobob 03-10-2016 07:12 AM

why do they need to get it on ramp/lift? in CA they hook this gizmo to ur ECU/computer and its all done.

Car comes out of storage in a few more weeks. Why's it so stupidly hard to find a tuner in Central NY? 0_o

why do you need a tune? if you're just getting intakes, there's no point in getting a tune.

First oil change of free "lifetime power train"warranty... Hello to me in twenty years still here, wonder how retro this site will look in 2035?

Not Z related but I took my newly built RC sailboat for its maiden voyage.

cedar strip built (like kayaks) and even sewed the sails myself from kite nylon

Back to regularly scheduled Z programming....

sp911 03-10-2016 11:06 AM

why do they need to get it on ramp/lift?

it's about a 6" high ramp so the front wheels can get on some sort of wheel to wheel contraption. not sure why.

if you plan on getting an exhaust then i would wait till everything is on to get a tune. pointless is paying for a tune 2 times. unless you got money like that :p

Just take it off completely. Sounds cooler and weight savings. Win win :driving:

Just changed my front Eibach sway bar from the 'soft' setting back to 'stiff'. Last season I ran it on stiff for half the season and soft the other half. Can't decide which setting I like better with the stock rear sway.

Leingod 03-10-2016 06:25 PM

Soooo ready to take the car out of hibernation. Now if only my front lip and spoiler would arrive....

if ur front tires can handle the G, use the stiffer setting given dat u have aftermarket endlinks. is there a middle setting?

All the salt to disappear from the roads and the roads to dry up from the snow/rain. It was 60 today. Suppose to snow 1-2 inches Monday.

Find me an I.T. job that pays decently enough for an apartment and support for 2 cars. I'l move in an instant. Damn Z isn't cheap to mod hahaha.

Leingod 03-10-2016 08:37 PM

Black NRG tow strap ordered. Needed a small cosmetic look for now.
