Default The Update...

Here is where the deal stands. My youngest brother David was an accountant with a car dealer. He says McCarthy Nissan is giving me no break on the price but charging sticker. He says I should wait about a month. Either the car will be sold or it will not. If the former, wait until next year and buy the 2010 model. If the latter, they will call me knowing that sportscars often don't sell well in the fall in the Midwest. Second, I talked with my wife about this at length. I have been through one divorce (my ex ran off with someone else and the gold digger taught me the meaning of Jerry Reed's song, She got the Goldmine..). It is better to win her over. I told her the decision was mine, stated my reasons, and she said okay. She asked me to wait my brother's "one month." I failed to mention two other concerns. This car would have to be my daily driver. Winters in Missouri are nothing compared to Maryland where I used to live. But, we might have 6 to 12 days in which I might have to drive to work in snow (I'm a teacher and we get some snow days off). Does this change the equation for anyone? This is a gamble somewhat, but now the choice is back to being mine. I hope to join the club in some 30 days...

sounds good...you should keep on the dealer though...they should at the very least be giving you invoice right now...

i would just go in the dealership and tell the sales manager "i will give you invoice on that z today, if you cant give it to me for invoice, well then heres my number, call me when/if your ready to deal" walk away...in a few days, maybe a week, if they are hungry enough they will bite...

Thanks for all the help. When you say invoice, do you mean the msrp or the final sticker? The paper in the window has an msrp of 29K+. The final price is 31K+. They want to give me 20K for my SUV and 1K for the 86 Rx7. They came up with a price of 35K for the Z based on the payoff difference on the SUV (I owe 25,600). I figure they are adding the 6 grand payoff difference to the Z, discounting 1 grand for my Mazda, which comes out to 36 grand. Then they must have discounted the Z 1 grand. Would you go for this? I thought they should come down 2 grand more. What do you think? Right now they are offering a payment of $554. Again, I am close.

what options does the car have? I can figure exact invoice for you and help you decide if you are getting a good deal on it or not. Payment terms and rate would help too
