Ok this would make more sense if I didnt have papers, My papers in the back of the car, if the cop really wanted to me to get my papers I CAN, and I WILL. There is no problem there im not going to get a ticket for having my papers back there. Therefore there are no issues because I have all my papers. Does that address your concerns?

Simmer down Nancy. You can very well get a ticket for that. Do you think a cop is going to go let you start rooting around in the back? Do you think a cop is going to allow you to get out of the car and start searching around where he can't see your hands? He'll write you the ticket and you'll be able to get it dismissed in court. It'll waste your time. I give. Keep your stuff wherever you want. You've been allergic to logic, good sense and the ability to drive well your entire tenure here so I don't know why we would have expected anything else but concentrated dipshittery from a new Minsu post.

He can produce the papers, just has to go through an extra step or two. He's not violating the law, just creating some inconvenience. What's the big deal?

Or the cop doesn't allow him to go rooting through the back for them and writes him the ticket. It'll get dismissed, but spending hours in court to show the judge the paperwork to get it dismissed doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.

Most cops will let you off, but a noticeable percentage will love the chance to play Cpt. Hardass and mess with the young guy with a nicer car than they've ever had. You've spent enough time around LEOs to know the type who would write that ticket and then laugh in the locker room about wasting the guy's time.

I know a lot of LEOs, true, and don't see this as a big issue. For every cop that doesn't want you rooting around in your rear hatch, there is one that doesn't want you rooting around in your glove compartment or reaching for your wallet in your back pocket, and several that would prefer you open the hatch so they can get a better look at the inside of the car and keep a closer eye on you with hands in plain sight. At any rate, it's an issue that affects only the OP, and not me or anyone else on this forum. Lot's of people do things differently than I do. I don't worry about it unless it somehow has the potential to cause me a problem.

If you were a cop and you pulled over somebody you knew nothing about because his crap was in the back of his car would you want that person to be looking in the back of the car? A good place to store a gun or a weapon? Glove box he has visual of the driver reaching over to the side and time to discharge his weapon if need be.

What's the diff between that and rooting around in glove box, console etc. Just as likely to want to have that weapon handy up front eh?

Points are moot. Recognize that I have the highest regard for most officers. Officers do have a hard job, but they are human, and subject to mood swings based on what happens in life. That said, it really doesn't matter where he keeps his docs, the real issue is the response to and the, dare I say it, profiling the officer performed when he saw the minor infraction. Would the officer have stopped a mom in a minivan loaded with kids for doing the same? I would say the odds would be significantly reduced. It is about power and projection of the same. It is inherent in their training. Assuming a young driver, in a known performance car, slight infraction, perfect opportunity to project power and develop fear in that young driver to maybe make them think twice before crossing that double yellow line again.

Anyway, movin' on...
