I have am '09 Touring MT w/o the sports package. Never really bothered me, nor the lack of SRM. It's not that hard to tell what gear you're in. It's actually pretty easy to do it by feel/position/engine sound. The other upgrades of the SP on the other hand, are definitely worth it.

It's rare that I ever "forget" which gear I am in. After some day dreaming, sometimes I forget if I am 3 or 5 when the music is turned up!
