Unfortunately, that section is not a panel. Every other section of the Z can be swapped..except that one. Sorry man, let us know how it works out.

As he should! It was his fault. He caused an accident.

So what did you end up doing? How did you fix it? I have a smaller dent on my Nismo and dent wizard told me they can't help will need to fill the dent with that crappy compound.

Try to pull it with the Air Duster and a hot blower trick. At this point you don't have much to lose. Who knows. Maybe that would the trick.

As others have pointed out, that's part of the unibody and thus not replaceable. You would have been much better off if he had hit the door; doors are easy to replace. You're probably looking at cutting out the bashed in area and welding in new metal to do it right... or just filling it in with putty if you want a half-*** fix. Either way it's an expensive repair.

I just had the same thing happen to me and that is not a small dent. Some young chick wasn't looking when she was backing up and hit me in the same spot. It's in the body shop now but it's a total of 8500 just for that small dent. I feel your pain!!

Correct me if I am wrong but that is also aluminum, which if is the case, greatly increases the repair costs vs steel.

Of all the people in the world that could have hit your Z, it had to be your pops; what a dilemma!
I hope you didn't stumble in late last night stoned or sloshed and tell the old boy "hey old man, you make me sick!" or something. (jk).

My question is, how would one go about fixing this? Obviously I will be coming into contact with a body shop soon, but what exactly will need to be replaced? ...I'm hoping that the only thing will be the actual damaged panel.
Poor guy, someone has been lying to him on what is small and what is big. I hope his self esteem still intact.

Either way, that is not so repairable sort of speak. If you want a good repair is going to involve much of cutting the entire rear section and in the end is gonna cost way too much, maybe not to you but to the insurance company. If you want a cheap repair then, many auto body places will drill hundreds of holes, will pull the dent, will use bondo and then repaint the area.

I still think you should try this method. It does work and could save you big.
