Why didn't they add a capless gas cap?

meh I wouldn't spend more than a few dollars to add one to my Z but it does have a bit of "cool factor" to it. But then, I liked

But then, I liked the pop-up cap on my buddy's old Charger, as un-aerodynamic as that was.
