Unless your 2010 is worth north of 30k. I don't think it would be fair for me.

Wrong...2013s are $3000 more than the 2014s. It's on the internet so it's true.

I looked at the NSX but chose the Z for a few reasons. Mostly the power potential. With the NSX it just felt wrong pushing the motor to ungodly power levels. It's such an iconic car I wouldn't want to do much of anything to it. With the Z I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong by modifying the car.

Plus the Z was brand new so I knew I could get a few years worry free vs the unknown of a used NSX.

And finally the Z had some sentimental value since I remember the 84 300zx my dad had when I was young.

4 years later I'm married with a kid and don't do much modifying, plus only a 6 mile commute to work each day. I rarely drive dangerously and the Z doesn't hold much sentimental value to me any more - I'm probably gonna trade it in on something bigger once my wife gets pregnant again.

I would now consider something like the NSX just to have a classic that I love and could keep forever.

I think if you're past your racing days and just want something beautiful to cruise in you should keep the NSX. Unless you plan on seriously modifying the Z, tracking it or using it as a daily driver I don't see any benefit it has over the NSX.

If you do still want a Z and are in driving distance of Dallas or Houston send me a PM. Maybe we can work out a deal.

The NSX is such a rare and sick car, I'm one of those that might say to keep it. But what does yours look like, got a pic? I won't lie, I'm not the biggest fan of it in pure stock form

I've wondered if I would trade my Z for a clean NSX, I don't know if I could...It would be a hard decision. I definitely love my Z, I don't see tons here but seeing the NSX around is like seeing a Unicorn lol, especially a well modded one.

I have a gti for DD, so I'm not too concerned with mpg or roughness. It's most likely will be my weekend toy like the nsx is now. Really, I just want honest opinion from current Z owners on whether I should go ahead with it. Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks,

There is so much subjectivity in looks. The Z is not a bad looking car but given the choice between driving the NSX or the 370z, I wager you will find 90%+ of folks go with NSX if they are drivers.

Its a mid-engined car designed to take down the exotics with a running cost that is not bad. Its not dirt cheap (few people work on them, the early clutches are expensive to fix, ring gear issues IIRC) but its no I-talian in maintenance costs either.

The Z will give you an arguably more modern interior, and a smooth reliable power plant that is nothing spectacular. Its an excellent V6. Its not a engine for the ages in any respect however.

The NSX is a timeless design with a unique power plant. You should get a stiffie/drop an egg with every 8K shift.

I always wanted to own one but I made the more pragmatic decision to buy a 2007 cayman over a used NSX due to the NSX in decent condition holding its value. I don't think 40-50K on a 15-20yo car is a good idea for me.

Personally I would say NSX over the 370z, my Z will be held onto for an extended time as the design is unique and I think will hold up well to time, but it is not on the level of the NSX over time. The NSX will still be very good in another 10 years and probably just as expensive if not more.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to look at and test drive the 14Z, then make my decision.
